Grew Up In The 80s? Blizzard’s Kobolds & Catacombs Trailer Is For You

Grew Up In The 80s? Blizzard’s Kobolds & Catacombs Trailer Is For You

Blizzard’s marketing department has had some terrible misses when it comes to advertising the developer’s digital card game Hearthstone. Guac Boy? Shudder. For the game’s latest expansion however, the company has hit it out of the park with a trailer that pays tribute to The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth and well, the 80s in general.

Featuring Janina Gavankar of Battlefront 2 fame and Drake and Josh‘s Jerry Trainor, the trailer paints Hearthstone‘s Kobolds & Catacombs as a romp through a Jim Henson-inspired dungeon, packed with an assortment of traps, treasures and puppets.

Though mostly kobolds.

The “King Togwaggle” mentioned in the video is a card from the expansion, though the usefulness of its effect in constructed play is debatable.

If you’re not familiar with Labyrinth or The Dark Crystal… I’ll just leave these here.

I’m not sure how effective Blizzard’s trailer will turn out to be, but as a kid of the 80s, it was definitely appreciated.
