Someone on the Sea of Thieves subreddit asked Rare for a day one patch. Not, like, an update to fix the game or anything, but a literal patch with the number one on it for people’s characters to wear. Today, the company obliged.
It was 19 days ago that user Jefabell first made the request, writing, “Dear Rare, don’t miss the opportunity to release a ‘Day One Patch’ eye-patch with the game’s Day One Patch.” In addition to the “patch” pun, Sea of Thieves is also a pirate game, the perfect opportunity to poke fun at the recent trend of companies shipping games that are somewhat broken and need big updates right when they’re released in order to work properly.
Earlier today, Reddit user Darkwizard98 uploaded a picture of the day one eye-patch for all to see. “A message in a bottle from Jolly Jefabell washed ashore,” reads the item’s description. “Eye patch makers read it and say ‘aye’.” Well played. And here’s what it looks like in action:

The eye-patch only costs one gold piece, so anyone who wants one can get in on the joke, but it’s only available until March 29.

Was considering playing this with mates until I saw that we are pay $20 USD more than Americans ($59USD vs $77USD). Which is bloody ridiculous.
How about choke on a bag of dicks.
Its a game. Have you not ever bought a game from an Aussie store?
Like all games you can get it much cheaper if you look around a bit.
If you’re getting the physical Xbone version maybe, otherwise your only option is the jacked up MS store price.
Yeah, $99.95 for pc digital only is a joke. That is well outside of the American foreign trade tax for digital.
“But it’s Play Anywhere so you’re getting an Xbone copy too!”
You can just buy the digital copy from Amazon (US) and pay $59.99USD, if you are just playing on PC.
Does that not run into region restriction issues? Hadn’t seen any confirmation either way whether doing that kind of thing would be a problem or not, especially since the game hadn’t come out yet.
Why not just get the Game Pass.
This. There’s a two-week trial so you don’t even have to commit $10 if you’re worried SoT will go the way of Battleborn.
I want to like the game. I just can’t see having fun if you’re by yourself. It feels like you need a group or you’ll be bored senseless or dead from other groups
