Well, it was on the cards. Garry Newman of Facepunch Studios recently let the world know that Garry’s Mod, which came out in 2006, just broke the $US30 million mark in sales… though this is 0.34 per cent shy of what the developer’s new title, Rust has made since its release in December of last year.
Newman first tweeted about GMod‘s milestone, before clearing up any speculation around how Rust has performed. To further clarifying things, Newman followed up with a number of other tweets explaining that Facepunch gets a bigger cut of profits from Rust compared to Garry’s Mod — 70 per cent compared to 50 per cent.
That’s a lot of coin in anyone’s books. Hopefully some of it can be spent on those troublesome cheating issues Rust seems to be enduring.

That’s like how GTA San Andreas sold 18m, then. GTA IV bettered that at 24m (despite being on hardware with a far lower install base) then GTA V eclipsed that in about two weeks (despite IV having about 3 years as a moderately priced title)
Why doesnt he stop pouring all his time into rust and fix the -vr command that has been broken for about a year. I need rift support for gmod 🙁
Rust is the best
