As you are no doubt aware, there is currently a Mad Max video game in development, being created by Avalanche Studios, the creators of Just Cause. But here’s something you may have forgotten: there’s also a fourth movie, Mad Max: Fury Road, currently in development, Directed by George Miller and starring Tom Hardy. Entertainment Weekly has gotten their hands on some cool looking new screens from the movie.
I think the surprise for me is that this movie is actually still getting made. George Miller’s Dr D Studios closed almost immediately after finishing Happy Feet 2, and Mad Max: Fury Road has been in development for years. It seemed like the movie would never actually get finished, but now it’s actually happening.
And these images? They give me real hope that this movie won’t be terrible. I’m a huge fan of Tom Hardy and I think him playing Mad Max is some seriously solid casting.
Perhaps the most exciting tidbit coming from early coverage of the movie, however, is this quote from George Miller:
I wanted to tell a linear story–a chase that starts as the movie begins and continues for 110 minutes,” says the Australian writer-director. Fury Road features few digital effects and even less dialogue, he explains. “In this crucible of very intense action, the characters are revealed.
A two hour car chase? Yeah, can’t wait for this.

I re-watched all 3 movies last year and was pretty blown away with the stunts, no CGI there.
No CGI in straya
There’s a documentary on the “golden years” of Australian low budget horror and action movies. They talk a bit about Mad Max 1 and 2. Some of the shit they did was ridiculously dangerous.
That cool shot of the camera centimetres from the road? Dude hanging out the door of a car, holding a camera. That cool chase scene? Open highway with traffic coming and going at intervals. No insurance. Just get out there and do it, yah blouse.
I hope Hardy has an aussie accent. Or at least aussie-ish.
To anyone outside Australia/New Zealand, an English accent is close enough.
This image does not inspire confidence. A Mercedes? The strange pattern where the Merc’s windows should be. etc
You really need to look at some of the other images to see what the Mercedes is actually all about.
George Miller has openly stated that more international models of cars will appear in the new MM. Not to mention that previous MM films have featured a large stock of American cars.. I know Holdens/Ford’s can have yank tanks in them.. but they have featured international brands for many years. Besides the fact Ford is an international brand and not Australian.
Spent a bit of time in the work shop where they were getting all the vehicles ready for this… that was about 3 years ago lol

this is going to be a fail I feel, will be too Americanised and wont have Mel Gibson, Who at his age could still do the role…….. pity Mel angered so many of hollywoods royalty, im sure they financed the film with the terms, NO ANTI SEMITE MEL GIBSON PLEASE lols

Me a few friends always chat if someone decided to do a modern re-make of Mad Max 1 with the majority Australian actors….(trying to go shot-for-shot but that would be diificult since some of the locations have either dissappeared or have changed)
we always say that Eric Bana will play Max, Mick Molloy would play Roop and Carl Barron would play Charlie

A friend of mine was one of the stunt co-ordinators/stunt men on this…looks out of control but I agree, nothing will beat the originals.
This looks great. I honestly don’t think you can go wrong making a interquel set between MM and Road Warrior with a new cast. Doesn’t taint the legacy and lets a new generation have the possibility of a new on going story in further films.
Not to mention if a film gets near 5 star reviews from it’s test screenings, then Warner says here’s another $15 million to make it even more ridiculous. That is a good good sign. Not to mention I don’t think George Miller has ever made a bad movie.
After the new Dredd was good, I’m feeling lucky! This is going to be good, I can feel it!
