In what has to be one of the more canny marketing moves ever, digital distributor GOG has purchased one of the five $10,000 Kickstarter slots for Larian Studios’ Divinity: Original Sin 2. The juicy reward at this, the highest available tier? The opportunity to design your own character for the game. It’s going to be The Witcher‘s Geralt, right?
Here’s the tweet from Larian announcing the coup:
The folks at @GOGcom became a $10,000 backer, so they get to design a character! Should we start working on the Guardian of Game? xD

Why Geralt? GOG is owned by CD Projekt, which also has developer CD Projekt RED under its wing — the studio entirely responsible for The Witcher RPG series. Larian comically suggests “Guardian of Game” in its tweet, but I reckon it’s more likely we’ll get something Geralt-shaped.

I’m a backer of DOS 2 and I recon that’s awesome. Being given a quest by The witches himself would be cool.
*Witcher, the Witcher himself oops
it could be a middle aged guy carrying around an old computer yelling about the state of modern gaming??

Hm. Seems to short-sighted, though. Cyberpunk 2077?
With the whole dimension-hopping setup they have, I could see them using Ciri instead of Geralt. Especially since they kind of teased the idea that she’d been in the Cyberpunk 2077 world too.
