Or, who knows, maybe she knew exactly what she was doing?
As pointed out on Sina (via ShanghaiIst) and IT Home, an elderly woman was making incense offerings and kneeling before League of Legends character Garen. These images appeared on Chinese social networking site Weibo and were taken outside of a internet cafe, explaining the giant Garen statue.

But why is the woman praying? As ShanghaiIst explains, it’s likely she has mistaken the character for Guan Yu, a famous general who is now worshipped by some as a god.

Online in China, some expressed sympathy for her confusion, while others were amused by the whole situation.

Hopefully she found whatever comfort she was searching for.

The temple is a bit far away, but Garen is conveniently near to her home and close to the shops.
Deity satisfaction Garen-teed. 😛
I could criticism this, but I’m a habitual burn all the incense at temples guy. I’ve probably prayed to an advert as some point.
Enjoy Coke, or else.
I have definitely recited a sutra to a coke machine at some point.
If you pray to someone, but you’re mistakingly praying to someone else, does it still count for the first person?
Probably in the same thread, if you pray to someone but you use a different language, will they hear it? Is faith bi-lingual?
Guess its all about intent, not the specifics of the how or where.
Oh man, shit, what if that’s why prayers don’t get answered
“What are they saying down there?”
“I don’t know, they’re speaking some nonsense language”
Well, if that’s the case, I’ve got a biiiig wake up call for all the English speaking Christians out there haha.
Poor thing.
Our Garen, which art in bronze league
Gank’ed be thy lane
Jungler come.
Thy ulti be done in earth,
As it is spin heaven.
Give us this day our daily win.
And forgive us our bitching,
As we forgive them that bitch against us.
And lead us not into mid lane,
But deliver us from Valoran.
For thine is the build,
The tank, and the bruiser,
For ever and ever.
DEMACIA!
Silly lady. Guan Yu is in Smite, not LOL.
Garen (1 worshiper). How many gets him clerics who can cast spells and turn undead?
Bow and pray before your white-man god.
“mistakenly”
Wait – Guan Yu, as in from Shu, as in Dynasty Warriors?
Yup. That one.
I’m not one to judge, but i think that granny is color blind (mistaken blue and green, it’s a common mistake among the color blind people) and mistaken the leather part of garen’s armor for guan yu’s long beard (it’s in the middle and pretty close to the statue’s chin). Sorry for my bad english.
