After a humongous week last week, things have slowed down a little. Still, guess what! We get Fire Emblem Fates this week! It’s only three or four months late, but whatevs!
Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright/Conquest (3DS)
What is it? It’s Fire Emblem, like three months too late.
Should you care? These games are great. But it’s insane how long it’s taken to get here.
Homefront: The Revolution (Xbox One/PS4/PC)
What is it? Yes, a Homefront game is coming out this week! Surprise!
Should you care? I’m actually very keen to see how this reviews.
LASTFIGHT
What is it? It’s like a quasi-retro 2v2 fighter with a unique art-style. Pays homage to old school arcade fighters.
Should you care? Looks really polished, and I actually haven’t played a game like this in a while. Maybe it’s due a revival.
Mimic Arena (PC)
What is it? A bullet hell shooter thing that lets you play with your past selves!
Should you care? It looks great and such a cool concept. One of the real sleepers this week I think.
Retool (PC)
What is it? A 3D hacking puzzle game.
Should you care? This looks interesting. You actually control an avatar, it’s not a literal hacking simulator. Very interesting.
Rugby League Live 3 (PS4)
What is it? It’s Rugby! Yay! Gets a digital release this week on PS4.
Should you care? Sure, why not. Especially if you’re into League.
Shadow of the Beast (PS4)
What is it? It’s a remake/re-imagining of the Amiga game.
Should you care? I was such a fan of the original I’m almost thinking about trying this!
Did we miss anything? Let us know in the comments below!

I love my Nrl, but Rugby League 3 is pretty awful.
Shadow of the Beast downloaded and ready to roll.
Fire Emblem Collector’s Edition pre-ordered and ready for delivery.
I am so stoked for more Fire Emblem I feel a little embarrassed that I don’t know the difference between Birthright and Conquest? You play as a different nation in each right?
pretty much. i preordered the shit out of this game – TWICE! plus the new fire emblem 3ds! WOOT!
There’ll be an article out later this week that will go through the difference between the two!
Thanks! Looking forward to that!!!
Different stories, different difficulty.
I believe that Birthright is the ‘standard’ Fire Emblem, and Conquest is the straight into the deep end hard mode.
Regardless of which one you buy, you can get the other as DLC for half price if you want both. There’s also a third story that’s CE/DLC only.
Nintendo’s penchant for releasing exactly the same game in two slightly different forms really irritates me. If anybody else pulled this people would be calling it a scam. With Nintendo people are happy about it.
(And that’s ignoring the endless re-releases of their core franchises in slightly different forms.)
I’m trying to think of another game where the two sides of a campaign are released as entirely separate games and coming up empty. Company of Heroes 2 maybe?
From what I understand in this case the two games actually play differently to each other, rather than being pokemon-like in its “well this one has this character and the other one has this character instead” deal.
So, a bit like C&C then, with GDI and NOD having entirely different units, cinematics and plot?
Come to think of it, there is one other example – Starcraft 2, with its three separately sold campaigns… sort of, anyway. But I do recall the protests when the first part of Starcraft 2 was released.
Couldn’t say, it’d take someone actually familiar with the series to decide whether that’s an apt comparison or not 😛 The thought did cross my mind though.
Oh, what, Shadow of the Beast is out this week? Totally getting this! When is the exact release date?
EDIT: Seems to come out tomorrow, the 17th.
No idea why Nintendo’s penchant for Saturday releases annoys me so much, but here we are.
The annoying thing is that they’re actually released on Fridays in the EU but because of timezones it means we get them on Saturday.
Because back in the day we could have been playing on Thursday already. And at the very least, this means Friday night goes to waste.
I think that’s it. Probably also because it’s so much easier to pop out and pick a game up on my lunch break at work.
Dear Nintendo please suck less.
Thanks.
Also out this week:
Valkyria Chronicles Remastered (PS4)
htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary (PC)
It would be nice if we were getting Wild Arms 3 as well but it’s only been confirmed for NA so far.
Ooh! I forgot about this one! Missed it on PS3, definitely won’t be missing it on PS4!
I thought Fire Emblem was due out at the end of the month?
That kinda screwed getting a special edition copy because won’t have money for it until then.
Do we have any info at all on when SUPERHOT is coming out for us on Xbox One? it’s out everywhere else but here.
FIYAAAAHHHH EMBURRREEMMMMMM!! So excited
I so badly want Homefront to be good
Although at the moment I’m in love with DOOM and waiting inpatiently for Far Harbor and Of Blood and Wine…and Overwatch
