Sorry everyone, Mass Effect: Andromeda doesn’t come out until next week. But there’s a neat range of games out this week to tide you over: the first two Danganronpa games are coming to the PS4, Star Trek: Bridge Crew is out and the trippy Nier: Automata drops on PC.
Nier: Automata (PC)
What is it? The PC launch of the eccentric cyborg action RPG from PlatinumGames.
Should you care? If you don’t get it now, then get it later this year. Few games switch it up as much as Automata does, which makes it worth a look in for that alone.

Automata begins as a scrolling shooter. Then it’s a twin-stick shooter, a third-person action RPG and a 2.5D platformer. It’s equal parts comedy and tragedy. It’s a game that’s whatever it needs to be at any particular moment to be completely amazing.”]
Styx: Shards of Darkness (PC, PS4, XBO)
What is it? An third-person action game that revolves around infiltrations, shadows and stealth.
Should you care? The original, Master of Shadows, wasn’t too bad but nothing special. It’s made by the same studio behind Blood Bowl, so I’d wait to see how it fares after launch.
Kona (PC, PS4, XBO)
What is it? An adventure set in the 1970s where you’re tasked with unravelling the mystery of a town, while having to survive the blizzard ravaging it.
Should you care? Looks interesting for fans of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter or The Long Dark. It’s the first part of a four-part series, so it’ll be fun to see how this develops.
Chaos Code -New Sign of Catastrophe (PS4)
What is it? A 2D anime fighter.
Should you care? If you’re not a fan of the genre, doubtful.
Blue-Collar Astronaut (PS3, PS4, Vita, XBO)
What is it? An arcade space game about landing on planets.
Should you care? Think Lunar Lander. The aesthetic is nice, but this type of gameplay will probably turn a lot of people off.
Death Squared (PS4)
What is it? An Australian co-operative puzzle game.
Should you care? One for people who enjoyed playing Portal 2 together.
Dying: Reborn (Vita)
What is it? A horror-themed puzzler designed to echo the experience of an escape room.
Should you care? The non-PSVR version of Dying Reborn got panned as for as I could see, and the PSVR version is also being sold as a separate product entirely – which is pretty crappy.
Torment: Tides of Numenera (PC, PS4, XBO)
What is it? Numenera finally gets a retail launch, after transit issues forced a delay.
Should you care? Check the reviews and see if it’s your cup of tea.

Eekeemoo — Splinters of the Dark Shard (PS4)
What is it? A third-person action-adventure about rescuing a dark shard.
Should you care? Looks interesting but also looks a little unfinished.
Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight (PS4)
What is it? A pixel-art Metroidvania platformer.
Should you care? Looks good and the game’s PC release was warmly received by the few who played it.
NeuroVoider (PS4)
What is it? A twin-stick shooter RPG with co-op and roguelike elements.
Should you care? Soundtrack is neat. One for those who loved Nuclear Throne, perhaps.
Trove (PS4)
What is it? A free-to-play voxel-based MMO.
Should you care? How much grinding do you want to do?
Not the biggest week, but there’s a few gems and big games in there. See anything interesting? Or are you busy working off Zelda/Horizon/Ghost Recon Wildlands still? (Or waiting for Andromeda, perhaps?)

For those that missed it, halfcoordinated did a fantastic one handed run of Momodora: RUtM on insane difficulty at last year’s SGDQ.
Also out this week:
Danganronpa 1•2 Reload (PS4)
Senran Kagura: Estival Versus (PC)
I thought Star Trek Bridge Crew was delayed until end of May? http://store.ubi.com/anz/star-trek–bridge-crew/57c16e920c8ee41c4f8b4567.html
Wikipedia says May for PC, March for PS4.
Playstation Store (AU) says Pre-order: Released 30 May 2017
Ah, so it does. I had thought it still said March.
That’s a relief for me in a way, I can finish some of the stuff I’ve purchased.
I agree! Blessing in disguise that we can wrap up some other big games from the last month or so.
And thus we never saw @weresmurf again.
😛
Naw man, if they released “Deep Space Nine Simulator”, shiiiiiiiit my own son would wonder where I went lol
Hmmmm……
[Proceeds to make such a game where one starts out as a cadet in engineering and the instructor is O’Brian, voiced by Meanley himself. Only to then have it released with the save and load functions as day one DLC, the ending with withheld from reviewers, Meanley’s voice is just engineered dubs from TNG, and the game is divided into chapters selling at $4.99 a pop]
Meaney…
Meaney!
MEANEY!
MEANEY!!!!
MEAAAAAAAAAAAANEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[Weresmurf is suddenly subdued and sedated by Dr. Bone’s McCoy himself.]
McCoy: “Some people obsess over the smallest of things.”
What did you use? A strong sedative?
McCoy: “No, Guinness.”
Since when does a doctor carry alcohol?!
McCoy: “Some people are more transparent and open to their bar tender than their doctor/wife/other-half.”
*twitches*
Oh god. Time… moving so slowly. It’s… it’s nearly here!
*tears off collared shirt to reveal Andromeda Initiative t-shirt*
I NEEEED IIIIIIT
…I also need a new 4K TV and PS4 Pro to play it on.
Here, play this while you wait.
[Runs]
[Game turns out to be Mass Effect 3.]
*munches on ME3 CD*
This tastes fantastic and is the best entry in the series.
BRING IT, NERDS.
WHY YOU!
[Locks Transientmind in a Vegemite factory, leaving the key at the bottom of a large vat of said spread.]
*label lifts, realises Weresmurf replaced DVD with a copy of Uwe Bolls POSTAL*
You and @wisehacker… Monsters, the pair of you.
[High-fives @weresmurf]
If you have EA access, technically Mass Effect Andromeda can be out this week for you :3
Nier: Automata looks good but I’ll wait to see how it performs on PC before I commit to it
there’s no shortage of examples where console to PC games performing horribly at launch
Thank god a dead week! Can catch up on zelda and ghost recon and copy of nier that’s still in it’s plastic
Oh thank God I have another week and a bit to focus on Breath of the Wild. I might have finished 1/2 of the game in that time.
Man, Styx is gonna be buried.
