It’s time to find coins up hill and down dale. Welcome to Yooka-Laylee week. But there’s plenty more coming out as well, including a new party game from the makers of The Order: 1886, a seriously good spear game on the Vita, and one of the best RPGs ever made returns.
Rolling Bob (PS4)
What is it? A platformer where you draw moves with your controller.
Should you care? Won’t be everyone’s jam but the idea is neat. Will make a good mobile game.
Lichtspeer (Vita)
What is it? A game where you throw spears at penguins. It also has hipster giants.
Should you care? Hell yeah, you should.
Yooka-Laylee (PC, PS4, XBO, Switch)
What is it? A love letter to platformers of the 90s.
Should you care? Definitely for gamers who grew up in the 80’s and 90’s with classic platformers. There’s even a Micro Machines tribute.
Starblood Arena (PSVR)
What is it? A six degrees of freedom multiplayer shooter.
Should you care? Like Descent and have PSVR? Worth a look. This interview with one of the devs is good watching, too.
Stardew Valley: Collector’s Edition (PS4, XBO)
What is it? The retail release of everyone’s favourite indie farming simulator from last year.
Should you care? It’s very charming.
Rogue Stormers (XBO)
What is it? A retail release for the platform twin-stick shooter.
Should you care? Might be a fraction harder than most people bargained for.
Planescape Torment: Enhanced Edition (PC)
What is it? A remaster of one of the most critically acclaimed RPGs ever made.
Should you care? RPGs have come a long way since the late 90’s. People who never played Planescape before might struggle a bit with the design, but everything I’ve heard so far says it’s a quality remaster.
Snow Moto Racing Freedom (PC, PS4)
What is it? Snocross (I didn’t make that up) racing.
Should you care? Yeah no.
A Rose in the Twilight (PC, PS4)
What is it? A platformer where a girl wakes in a castle void of colour and time, and works together with a giant to escape.
Should you care? The whole Last Guardian shtick is getting old pretty fast.
Deformers (PC, PS4, XBO)
What is it? The makers of The Order: 1886 return with a third-person multiplayer party game about animals rolling around and squishing each other.
Should you care? Actually, this looks pretty fun.
Jackbox Party Pack 3 (Switch)
What is it? The latest party pack from Jackbox Games comes to the Switch.
Should you care? Definitely.
Crawl
What is it? A multiplayer dungeon crawler where players switch between playing as the hero and the monsters in the dungeon.
Should you care? It’s the highest rated game on Steam released by an Aussie studio, outside of the Ty the Tasmania Tiger remaster. Definitely worth playing, although I think the game has a bit of a visibility issue.
LEGO City Undercover (Switch)
What is it? The re-release of the 2013 LEGO open-world game.
Should you care? Good if you have kids, pointless if you already got it on Wii U.
Ping Pong VR (PSVR)
What is it? IT’S PING PONG IN VR
Should you care? IT’S PING PONG IN VR
Divine Ascent (PC)
What is it? A strategy puzzle game with ancient civilisations battling it out to be first to reach the sky.
Should you care? It’s a turn-based game where you have to place three temples. Looks intriguing.
Aaero
What is it? A sci-fi action shooter with a bit of an unusual style.
Should you care? This reminds me of an on-rails game I played on a PC Gamer demo disc back in 1995. I’m still looking for that game. That said, Aaero looks neat provided the electronica doesn’t do your head in.
So that’s the pick of the bunch for the week of April 10. Are you picking up Yooka-Laylee this week, jumping back into Planescape: Torment or still working through the massive month of March?

When is Darknet coming to PSVR on the Aus PSN?
Not this week, it seems.
I don’t want to be *that* guy, but Yooka-Laylee has no release date for Switch yet (much to my dismay, it looks like a great after work commute game to unwind with)
Also out this week:
Kero Blaster (PS4)
Cosmic Star Heroine (PC/PS4)
Samurai Shodown IV (Switch)
There is also a chance that Hive Swap will be out this week. Or at the very least we will find out more on the 13th.
Any word on the mobile release of Torment? Am keen to play that, but really want to do it on the couch on the iPad 😛
Whoa, wasn’t expecting Crawl there. That thing’s been in early access or whatever for what feels like forever.
Still yet to get to play it though, but damn I love the trailer 😛
