Amazon Temporarily Pulls Cosmo Black Nintendo 3DS From Sale

Anyone looking to pick up a Cosmo Black 3DS today from Amazon was met with a disconcerting note:

Item Under Review

While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it’s described here. (Thanks for the tip!)

We’re working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

There have been complaints of the two screens scratching each other when closed. Also there has been recent controversy over headaches caused by Nintendo’s 3D handheld. A few hours later a message from an Amazon rep revealed the problem:

The flip-screen is loose when its opened, please inform them that Nintendo has confirmed as long as the upper screen locks into place, the unit is within Nintendo’s design specification. Customers can call 1-800-255-3700

Apparently there have been complaints about the hinges on the 3DS being too “wobbly.” Soon after the message was sent out, Amazon removed the “Item Under Review” note and resumed selling all versions of the 3DS.

Nintendo really needs to axe this altogether and go back to the drawing board. Vita is looking to destroy them, and this is coming from a Nintendo fan.

What about the Vita is so compelling? It’s a revamped PSP with a few different control inputs. Is there anything else?

Saying that the Vita is a revamped psp, is like saying that the PS3 is a revamped ps2.

I guess you dont play vidya games much….

Did you miss the part where he asked if there was anything else, or are you just an insulted fanboy? Honestly I wouldn’t mind knowing why the Vita is supposed to be better than the 3DS for the same reasons.

3DS is a revamped NDS? with more control inputs? It got a new screen? so did Vita.

The proof of the pudding will be in the eating.

PSP is far more powerful and in many ways more capable than NDSLite, but how did that go?

Vita does look great, but even though both companies have upped the ante I wouldn’t count 3DS out just yet.

The 3DS is a great console, I used to own a launch model but gave it to my niece (cant say no to her!).
But I’m definetly picking up another 3DS once Luigi’s Mansion 2 releases, Resident Evil Revelations, or Kingdom Hearts: DDS (whichever releases first) All it really needs is a price drop!
I just wish these games would release already!

If you think the 3DS should be scrapped, you ain’t no Nintendo fan. Ridiculous statement.

Uh-oh. My 3DS has a wobbly screen, and I got it on day 1 in store. What should I do?

I’m in the same boat. My 3DS is getting screen scratches, and I pre-ordered from online dick smith =/

Same here – Ordered from dick smith, and the lower screen marks the top one whenever it’s closed. I only noticed it after I stuck screen protectors on – honestly I figured Nintendo would have built a bigger gap tolerance instead of risking contact like this. Best solution is just get yourself some screen protectors – once I wipe mine down there’s no permanent markings and it looks good as new.

I have the same issue. 3DS is lame and wobbly.

LOL what do you do to your 3DS’s to make it wobbly? I play mine every day and it doesn’t wobble. You must be thrashing about while playing or something.

And LOL at the Sony fanboys.

Same here, got mine from Game on day 1 on a preorder, and put on some screen protectors and after about a week, scratches appear on the top screen, that are now permanent on the protectors. And when I look at my friend’s 3DS open, it clicks into place, mine doesn’t :L
