The anniversary edition’s colour scheme harks back to the original PlayStation. Here’s what’s included in the box:
And here’s the full unboxing video:

Let me guess, Us Aussies miss out?
I think it looks ugly. I like the original PS design so much but the new one just looks weird in that colour to me. The regular black ps4 looks nicer and the black touchpad ruins the controller
$730!?
Ouch.
It’s awesome, but maybe not $731 awesome…
oh dear… I’n not a ps3 or ps4 fan… but fucking hell if that isnt beautiful. i love the old PS1
*Edit* japan, US and Europe. what about Australia. do we get a localised release or just have to import a console. like fucking always.
I’d consider it as an unboxed collectible….hmmm….
Limited to 12300? Why not 12500?
The number has significance..
I’m just guessing here but 12/3/XX it would make sense if they had of Made 12,394. that would make it 12/3/94. maybe they have 94 models for internal people? or maybe I’m just spinning shit… who knows.
12300 was the number of first run PS1’s
No Aus release?? But I NEED this! Anyone wanna get a group together to do a bulk import of some kind? Haha
Releases PS1 inspired PS4. Not backwards compatible. Win.
Actually aren’t All consoles of Sonys backwards compatable with PS1 Disks.
I know PS2/PS3 worked fine at playing PS1 games – Ive never bothered to test the PS4.
I haven’t tried, either, but I don’t think it plays PS1 games. You certainly don’t see them on the PS Store when you browse it on PS4.
Just put a PS4 on laybuy a few weeks ago (Slowly paying it off before Christmas), saw the title/pic of this article and was really dissapointed. Then I saw the price and it’s ok now 😛
It is not for the bargain hunter, that’s for sure!! I’m tossing up whether to get one over the Xmas period but at this stage I’m going to keep holding out.
Shouldn’t they make 20000 units instead of 12300 to mark their 20th anniversary? o.O
