The iPhone iteration of 5th Cell’s magical word puzzle game gains voice control on the 4S, integrating Siri’s voice recognition technology in Scribblenauts: Remix to make you say things like “Giant Flying Kielbasa” in mixed company.
Siri is not only miffed by Scottish English, it also doesn’t follow English spoken with a Japanese accent.
When people release sales figures, I often struggle to find perspective. Is it a success? Is this spin? But when you consider that sales of the iPhone 4S (four million units in three days) actually doubled sales of the iPhone 4 in a similar period — well, I think it’s safe to say things are pretty peachy for Apple.
Apple said today they sold more than four million iPhone 4S in the three days since its launch on October 14. They also report that more than 25 million customers are now using iOS 5, which upgrades, but still doesn’t even come close to fixing the iPhone’s Game Center.
“What is Ubisoft?” I ask Siri. The only reason I ask that question is I have an package from Ubisoft on my desk. And I have no imagination.
“Would you like to do a websearch for ‘You Be Soft’,” replies Siri.
“Try talking in a proper Scottish accent,” says Tracey, Kotaku Australia’s Associate Editor. “Go full Scottish.”
I see this as a challenge. I must rise to it.
So here it is – Kotaku’s obligatory ‘the iPhone 4S is coming out today post’. Anyone here picking one up on launch day? My old iPhone is seriously showing its age – when Tiny Wings is suffering from frame rate issues you know it’s time to upgrade. Anyways – we’ve got a couple in the office, so at some point today we’ll have a hands on look at how the games are handling.
Once Apple introduced the Siri AI personal assistant, it was only a matter of time until someone mashed up the introductory video so that it was GLaDOS living inside of Cupertino’s new smartphone.
So, maybe you’re a bit disappointed by not getting a shiny new iPhone design revealed during Apple’s announcement yesterday. You’re not alone. But the real exciting stuff was all the news about iOS 5, what with the Siri personal assistant and full video mirroring through Apple TV.
Dammit, we want you to tell us stuff – like are you going to be upgrading to the iPhone 4S? As an owner of an increasingly rubbish iPhone 3, I’m considering it. I was expecting an iPhone 5 announcement, so was planning to upgrade to that, but now? Well, I’m not sure – maybe I’ll make the leap to Android. What about you guys?
