Street Fighter II HD’s Intro Lived Too Fast And Died Too Young

10:30PM Luke Plunkett | Much like the game itself, this short clip (by serial SF artists and SFIIHD contributors Udon) strikes the perfect balance between contemporary style and old-school sensibilities. It’s just a shame it had to be cut to squeeze the game online. More »

Udon’s New Chun-Li Comic Gets Thighs Just Right

12:20AM Mike Fahey | Udon Entertainment more than makes up for Kristin Kreuk’s lack of thigh meat with their newly announced comic book miniseries Street Fighter Legends: Chun-Li. Kicking off in January, SFL: Chun-Li will explore our favourite female fighter’s earliest assignments with the Hong King police department, where she is partnered with a young woman named Po-Lin who has her own reasons for hating Shadaloo. The series will also offer some insight into the life of Chun-Li’s father, Dorai, as well as Dan’s dad, Go Hibiki. The press release also suggests that some Shadaloo bosses might make an appearance, and judging by the preview page filled with images of M. Bison, they could be right. Hit the jump for more details, and hit the gallery that shows the horrible, horrible things Chun-Li’s mighty, meaty thighs do to a police uniform. More »

Udon Street Fighter Comics Coming To DVD

4:30AM Mike Fahey | Those of you who missed Udon’s excellent Street Fighter series in comic book form have another chance to catch the series next February as Eagle One Media and Capcom team up to present a DVD version of the comic in animated form. Street Fighter: Round One – FIGHT!, due out February 9th, just in time for the release of Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li on February 27 – not only reprints issues 0-6 of the Udon series, it animates the comic, adding movement, music, special-effects, and even voice overs to the comic book dialogue If you ask me it’s a complete and utter bastardization of the comic book as an art form, but that’s just the sort of thing you’d expect from a big old comic book geek like myself. After 11 Months, My Okami Art Book Arrives

3:30PM Luke Plunkett | In July 2007, fresh from beating the game, I ordered the Japanese-language edition of the Okami art book. Weeks went by. Then months. No art book. I totally forgot about the thing. Then today, June 24, 2008…success! The book finally turns up (albeit the English-language edition). Was it worth the wait? Was it ever. This is a proper art book. Full of concept art, level design sketches, character reference models and even some mangas detailing both the game’s boss battles and “god release” cutscenes. Best part? It even gives you soundtrack advice: ie, if you’re reading this, play track 7 on disc 3 of the soundtrack. More »
