UK Presenter Spills The Beans On Metroid For 3DS?

Jonathan Ross is like the Rove of the UK, except instead of being ‘pretend’ funny, he is ‘real life’ funny. He also has a speech impediment that everyone takes the piss out of, but that’s another story. The story here is that, as a huge fan of games, he is presenting the European 3DS Preview Conference. He has had access to the 3DS and some games for the past couple of weeks, and has been doing a bit of tweeting about said game, possibly revealing some previously unheard of releases.

After tweeting the ‘3DS is really good, way better than I expected’ standard fare, one of his followers on twitter stated…

I have my fingers crossed for Metroid.

Jonathan Ross’ reply?

I think you’re going to be pleased then…

Ross has since backtracked a little, but not far back enough to stop me from being incredibly excited about the possibility of a new Metroid (possibly 2D) with 3D visuals. It would be safe to say that a new Metroid will be released at somepoint during the lifespan of the 3DS, but the sooner the better as far as we’re concerned. It may also be worth noting that this year is the 25th anniversary of the original Metroid’s release – surely Nintendo would be planning something to celebrate that? A 3D remake of Metroid: Zero Mission perhaps?

You can follow the stream of Jonathan Ross’ presentation here when it starts on the 19th of January. And you can follow him on twitter @wossy.
