Watch The PlayStation Phone Running PSone Games

We’ve seen the rumoured PlayStation Phone in action before. Now watch as a user loads up PlayStation ROMs for Resident Evil 2 and Rage Racer on Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play.

How does a PlayStation Phone load up original PSone games? Judging by this latest video of the phone in action, it loads up ROM files for the games. In this video, sent to us by Steve from NowhereElse.FR and subsequently found on YouTube, we see a user loading up Biohazard 2 and Rage Racer using a program called Rom Buddy. A quick Google search of the file names finds that the two games are being loaded from ROM files popularly available on the internet.

This is most likely a temporary solution for loading games on the PlayStation Phone. With Sony’s history of stifling homebrew and combatting piracy, I can’t see them releasing a device that allows users to download any PlayStation game off of the internet, load it into a built-in emulator and go to town.
