Sleeping can be fun — necessary even. But what if stuff happens when you’re sleeping — game stuff? What are you supposed to to do then? Thankfully we have a solution — While You Were Sleeping, a quick round up of all the news that happened… while you were sleeping.
Overnight it was discovered that the uncompleted code for Dead Island that was uploaded onto Steam contained an unlockable skill which, while named Gender Wars in the game, was originally named “Feminist Whore“. I’ve seen a number of different responses to this, from shock and disgust to people defending the developers because they feel that because it doesn’t appear in the final game it’s OK, or that it’s excusable because it might be an in-joke. Regardless of whether or not those words were intended for the final version of the game, it doesn’t make it OK for that kind of language to be used in the workplace and it makes me wonder what kind of mature adults the developers on this game are.
Other things that happened over night: there was some X-Men and Jedi Knights concept art, Final Fantasy learns from its past mistakes, we get a look at the first Uncharted 3 commercial, and there’s a trailer for Persona 4.
