What Are You Playing This Weekend?

It's sad to say, but the 'mixed' reviews of Assassin's Creed 3 have partly soured my motivation to get stuck into Assassin's Creed 3 this weekend. That's a terrible thing to say, because I really should hold off judging until I've actually played a significant amount of the game itself, but yeah. Seems like it may not be the game I was hoping it would be. That being said, I still fully intend to dedicate a massive amount of my weekend to this game! What are you all planning to play this weekend?

I also still have Dishonored to finish, and I'm very, very close. This game has been a real sleeper for me. The more I play and the more I master the mechanics, the more I enjoy it. Which is how all games should be, I suppose.

It reminds me a little of Metal Gear Solid 3, in that your first playthough is almost like preparation for the real fun you're going to have on subsequent playthroughs. I don't know if I'll have time for all that though!

Was planning on buying AC3 since I loved ACB's multiplayer, but then I found out that there's a big chance of being thrashed by people who have paid $15 to unlock all of the abilities off the bat.

Since Ubisoft lost a sale, I'll probably play some XCOM or Dishonored.

Probably about 4 hours into AC3, thinking its pretty good despite some pacing/ control/ polish issues.
I think the story is the best AC so far and i'm looking forward to getting into it a bit more over the weekend.

AC3, after four hours I've finally fallen in love with the thing. Still feels clunky and the missions aren't all that fun, but the setting and story is incredible!

I've been told that there are some Orcs that must die, so I think I might do a bit of that.

Also going to try and find some time to ladder in SC2. I've somehow lapsed in my laddering even though I only started playing again recently.

Assassin's Creed 3 all the way this weekend!

    Rune Factory 4

I'll be hitting up Rocksmith, Assassin’s Creed III and Need For Speed: Most Wanted! Three new games in three days... its been a good week ;)

I'm also looking for others to compete with on AutoLog in NFS too, so add me PSN: grabda

Darksiders. Getting close to the end I believe. Almost finished the Black Throne dungeon

Still Plowing through XCOM have not had a game suck me in that much in a long time.
Also picked up Orcs Must die for cheap on the Steam Halloween sale. never played it so will give that a go.

If i get time will do Dishonoured on the old Xbox. That thing is gathering dust cause of XCOM I got on PC

Probably some Resident Evil 5 (not RE6, but RE5 - I'm behind the times slightly, I know) and some SC2 multiplayer.

Inbetween study sessions, I have Guns of Icarus, Layton and Banjo-Tooie.

As of Thursday, my entire backlog, most likely starting with Dark Souls.

I know. I recently got out the old CRT and the 64. Kazooie was the other day now I'm on to Tooie.

        Ahh, memories.

I'll be having a few BL2 sessions with friends of course. In my downtime I'm still pushing through HyperDimension Neptunia and Tomba!, though I'm getting XCOM soon so that's just going to cause complications. I may also start picking off some of the shorter, simpler games in my pile of Steam-y goodness if I get time. I also have reading and watching to catch up on so my weekend may be quite busy...

Edit: Oh and trying to get to the Dark Souls DLC too!

Might jump in to some more Mechwarrior Online, but apart from that I'm probably going to be out for the weekend.

Not sure.. wedding on Saturday.. that will be an all day and night thing.. so Sunday is the only time for play.. I just picked up an alpha of "Recruits" through Desura but haven't had a chance to play it yet.. so most likely will play that a little.. I've finished off Borderlands 2, first play through only, and XCOM finished.. but I started a new Ironman XCOM campaign.. so might give that a bit of a bash too.. I'm really hanging out for Far Cry 3 now..

id say play AC3 mark. Im on PC thus have to wait til the end of nov to play it, but from seeing sequence 1-6 on youtube, im actually looking forward to playing it were before i was only mildly interested.

Plus all the reviews ive seen have put the game at aleast an 8.5 out of 10 which is still worth your money just because its not a 9 or 9.5 doesnt means its not worth your money. Remember alot of our favorite games from the past were given scores of 75/100 or more. Not even half life scored a 96 in hyper or PC Powerplay

Assassins Creed doesn't truely begin until sequence 6 but the 4-5 build up is worth it. End of sequence three is easily one of the games highlights. But when the game finally opens up and Conner is let out into the world that's when it goes from being a good game into something great and I love it.

That's when it goes from an average experience into something you can make great if you spend a lot of hours trying to.

Please note a 'fanboi' bias in all my AC opinions

    AC3 definately.

Little upset with the viewpoint nerf or maybe more viewpoints showup more along the story.

Absolutely no idea really... Have been enjoying AssLib to and from work and want to continue that, but I know I shouldn't...

Probably just start ACIII and have a look, but return to Borderlands and play through True Vault Hunter Mode.

Need For Speed and Okami HD would also be welcome distractions.

End result is that I probably won't play anything, tomorrow is busy with a thing for most of the day and then probably head out to the soccer in the evening. Sunday will probably end up as chore day!

Might hit up a bit of WoW and LoL with sparing sessions of BF3 and CS:GO. Then there's always the funny drunken Saturday night sessions of Borderlands 2

I generally try to avoid most reviews now because I've had a few taint what would have otherwise been an enjoyable game for me. Games are subjective, and I hate that I'm not enjoying a game as much as I should because I've got a reviewers voice in the back of my head saying "the level design is a bit tedious" or "the AI is a bit iffy", rather than just enjoying it based on my own experience.

That being said, I'll be lucky if I get to play anything this weekend, but if I do it'll either be starting MechWarrior Online, or carrying on through Black Mesa.

I still plan to get AC3, but due to budgetary restrictions this month I decided I would prioritise Halo 4 and Black Ops 2 this month for the popular multiplayer I expect to be enduring a lot of over the coming months as my wife and I dust off our pwning boots (that have lain dormant for most of the year) and destroy some buttholes.

But that leaves me with another 4 days of waiting beofre a new game comes out.

I would like to play some more Borderlands 2 but I feel like my wife has burned out on it already and we're awaiting some DLC that boosts the level cap. Since I only play in split-screen with her (I just don't really enjoy soloing), I imagine I will have a higher than usual amount of free time to devote to X-Com. I'll also try and squeeze in a few rounds of FTL, as I still need to unlock the Slug ship and the Unknown Ship (last time I played I snagged the Mantis ship, which I am yet to try out but it looks pretty badass).

So, that's about it. No AC3. Probably BL2. Hopefully XCom. Maybe FTL.

    Battlefield 3 (Double XP weekend!)
    Just Cause 2
    Borderlands 2 maybe
