Community Kudos

Aw yeah, it’s that time again homies. That time when we talk about how great we all are. It’s the best time. It’s Community Kudos time.

First off, the great Kermitron dropped nominations that were just a little bit too late for me to catch last Friday, so I’m going to drop them while they’re (not really that) hot. Right here right now, baby!

Kermitron
It might seem like an unfair transaction for people to get noms in exchange for giving away real things, but nevertheless I have to nom Shane for his dauntless persistence in giving me a collectors edition copy of Dragon Age: Origins.

When Shane wants to give you stuff he just won’t take no for an answer.

He really doesn’t. It’s like with ScribbleTaku — he posts The Dig as the answer every single day. He’s like a Dig terminator. He simply will not stop until…

Actually he just never stops.

This week the ‘go home, you’re drunk’ award goes to D.C. for some of the most brilliantly bizarre nominations I’ve seen in a while. These are ShiggyNinty level noms.

D.C.
This week I’d like to nominate Ico and Shadow of the Colossus for being good games.

That’s allowed, right?

Also The Place Beyond the Pines for being a good movie too.

Also allowed, I assume.

And J.J. Abrams for bringing people together with Star Trek Into Darkness.

Pillars of the community, every last one!

Actually Cakesmith also delivered some mega noms. They’re also sort of Oprah noms.

Cakesmith
So been a while since I’ve nommed for kudos but I have super cereal noms to give out. But before that how are things? Good? Well that’s excellent to hear. How’s the wee babby going? Boy don’t they grow up fast! This weather man, crazy. Be honest, how many times a day do you say “what’s the matter? Never taken a shortcut before?” And then jump over a fence? (Is the fact you look like Simon Pegg still a thing?)

Anyway, NOMS:

Blaghman – reasons

Rize – reasons

AlexPants – reasons

Shane – obligatory reasons

Strange – obligatory reasons

ShiggyNinty – reasons, beards and bacon

Doc_What – reasons

Sughly – reasons

Freeze – reasons

DC – reasons. But also because he is easily one of the most active community members and is always organising meet ups. And I’m not sure if he’s ever won it but he deserves to. He’s also terrified of us Sydney folk. One day we will invade Brisbane and he won’t be able to escape us!

Mythamphetayournameistoolongyoujerk – reasons

Anti-noms for Bish. Because reasons.

Yeeeeeeeah.

Oh, I guess ‘cereal’ noms are a thing now. There are so many different kinds of noms now.

I have a little story to tell of the bromance between Welbot and Batguy. This week Batguy went to Brisbane and it was love at first sight. The noms these guys sent each other are adorable…

Batguy
I’d like to nom Welbot for being the best damn host ever. I went to Brisbane for a day, and he saved a metric crapload of time and money. He drove me everywhere. He let me stay at his place. Hell, he even slept on the lounge and let me have his bed!

Awesome guy. Awesome host.

And then almost immediately afterwards I got this…

Welbot
I may have nommed Batguy already, but I don’t think it ever made it up on the post. (Probably my fault for sending too late, or when you were away).

It’s his time though! He came and stayed with me for a couple of nights this week, and bought me a ticket to see They Might Be Giants!
Had such a good night! Tied with Pulp for the best gig I’ve ever seen! Was great to finally meet Batguy in the flesh too! Super nice guy!
I’d add a lot more, but I wanna make sure I get it in on time today!

Beautiful.

Brace yourself people — Pants noms incoming…

AlexPants
the Obligatory Cake Nom
– Freyjr and Trjn for having me over on the weekend, and for being patient enough to explain the rules to 4 or 5 board games to me
– Beavwa for sending a copy of Ocarina of Time 3DS my way, as well as, for some reason, a Wheel of Fortune game he got for $3

The Freeze S Preston also had a nom for Beavwa…

Freeze
Beavwa for sending me Wheel of Fortune for the DS. Now I can live out my Pat Sajak and Vanna White fantasies anytime I want.

Oh, and he also sent some other game, StarNerd64 or FurryFox72 or something. I don’t know.

Star Nerd 64. Shit yes. Where do I sign?

And here are this week’s GKNs (Greenius Kudos Noms). They actually arrived with very little crazy fontage. Usually he messes around crazily with email fonts. He’s getting conservative in his old age.

Greenius
Aidan and Shane!

Which Aidan and Shane? Is it our beloved Kotaku regulars and TAYbies? Or another random Aidan and Shane… WHO KNOWS? WHO CARES! Because they’re both radical dudes!

I don’t know why, but I almost always do this. I almost always leave Strange’s noms until the end.

Strange
Today I feel the need to nominate @rocketman for Kudos. Mostly for this comment: “How about we stop worrying about political correctness and what is or isn’t offensive and we just treat everyone nicely.” Perfect.
Honourable mentions for @sughly and @mrtaco.

That Rocketman is a sage. He is a god-king among mortals. He’s also relatively funny on Twitter.

Alright, you know what? CONGRATS D.C. — I think a win for you in Community Kudos is well overdue!

Alright, I have to rush off and put on my suit for this year’s IT Journalism Awards. We’re nominated! I BETTER WIN THEM ALL OR THERE WILL BE TROUBLE!

Have a great weekend everyone!
