Well, that’s a bit of a bummer. I’d been looking for an excuse to return to the world of Skyrim and beefed up, hi-res, sexy version of the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One would have been the perfect way to go about doing that.
But according to Pete Hines, the Vice President of Bethesda (so you’d expect him to know), there will be no Skyrim on next gen platforms.
We have been working on the CMS that runs our sites. A bug caused platforms that don’t exist to show up for some games Sorry for confusion.

Well that’s a shame. But then again, more time for the team to work on Fallout 4 — right Pete? Pete?
Come back Pete!

In before “just get it on PC its real next gen lololololololol”
Hah. That’s the straw man? Should’ve gone with ‘in before PC lets you use mods’.
(Edit: At least then you’d actually have got in before a kind of comment someone would make… like joe!)
Honestly, who cares? Surely anyone who wanted to play Skyrim would own a copy on one platform by now, the money spent porting it to next-Gen would almost definitely turn out to be a waste. Plus, I sincerely doubt the PS4 or Xbone would be able to match the sort of visuals achievable in Skyrim with a handful of mods…
Yeah, makes no sense at all releasing a previous gen game on a current system.
Total waste of resources that could be put toward entirely new Fallout and Elder Scrolls games.
This. Also, I don’t understand logic of buying Skyrim AGAIN on a next gen console to play with better graphics.
Wouldn’t it have been easier to buy a pc and play the better graphics (and gameplay) months ago?
I’d buy it again, so I do
I was waiting for the Legendary Edition to fall in price a bit more, so this news really excited me, but now my hopes are dashed. I guess I’ll have to shell out for PS3 edition 🙁
Already got it on ps3 and pc.
Didn’t see then porting it over why would they it’s what a 2 year old game now?
Elder Scrolls Online is nearly here. Not fussed on missing a Skyrim return when I can have a fully fledged Skyrim MMO experience instead.
…Uhm. You should probably go looking for some beta leaks. If you’re looking for a fully-fledged Skyrim MMO experience, you should probably tone down the expectations a tad. It’s looking a lot more like a very average MMO experience with a lick of TES paint.
That, and it’s not even developed by Bethesda.
I don’t know how so many people overlook things like this.
They see a title and just expect it to be similar/the same without even paying attention to who is creating it.
WOW Killer.
Heh. Just like WAR, SWTOR, Aion, Rift, and TERA.
(Edit: OH, and GW2. How could I forget?)
It always makes me laugh 😀
I hope he listens to you.
If he bought it day one without any research, boy that would hurt.
Or pay a few hundred dollars for some early access/founders benefit + cash shop currency type bundle – dunno if one exists yet, but I really wouldn’t be surprised.
That’s the ‘drank the kool-aid’ point of no return for fanboyism, even when you know the product sucks. Loss Aversion/Confirmation Bias at its best.
Good. Waste of time and resources. Anyone who is burning that much for a better looking Skyrim have PC to look to if they really are that desperate. Hopefully we’ll see Fallout 4 soon.
I’d say they’d make an Elder Scrolls VI and continue the series and stop updating and making new versions of Skyrim

Even with a few limited updates and a new trophy list, I would have bought Skyrim on next gen without blinking. Why do Bethesda hate my money? 🙁
Because the Skyrim team had already broken up and the staff reorganised for new games. No one in Bethesda is working on Skyrim anymore, they’ve moved on.
Yeah … But I haven’t! 😛
