At one point in my life I went through a stage of playing Settlers of Catan, a board game that usually dissolved into me screaming ‘GIVE ME WHEAT’ at my friends and receiving complete blank stares. Now I can relive that social awkwardness in Minecraft.
Well not yet, but it’s only a matter of time surely. Here’s where we’re at now: Beznay has gone through the process of building a massive large scale Catan board in Minecraft. The tiles are gloriously designed — you can explore them and everything. Totally beautiful stuff.
All that’s required now is for some smart person to create the plug ins required to make it work as an actual game.
This needs to happen. But friends — no seafarers expansions please. I bloody hate seafarers…
A cool angle of the board…
Wheat! I NEED WHEAT! CAN SOMEONE TRADE ME FOR WHEAT!
Bloody hell, does anyone have any goddamn ORE?
Screw this guy…
Head here for more pics of the board. Looks great!

We’ve been having some very intense Settler’s games lately. I don’t win much, but I’ll be damned if I don’t monopolize the brick/stone.
I AM THE STONE MERCHANT, BEG BEFORE THEE.
Everyone knows that the entire point of Settlers is to say “I have wood for sheep” and then giggle for a bit.
I always like it when somebody forgets to carefully say I want to trade Lumber for Wool and ends up saying Wood for Sheep I have Wood for Sheep… Oh screw you guys, grow up.
This was awesome until I got to the part where it’s just a board and no game. That seems easy, a full playable game on the other hand would have been badass.
Also needed: Playable Carcassonne.
I made a fully functional first-person version of Catan, implemented as a Bukkit plugin. Bukkit is hardly active anymore but it’s still there. All the mechanics work the same as the boardgame, except you can have teams, pvp, and some other stuff like being able to harvest and refine resources yourself instead of only relying on dice rolls.
