But seriously, you know Nintendo will never let this see the light of day, right?
We reported on the existence of the Ocarina of Time 2D project back in 2014. Back then it looked pretty decent, definitely playable. Now it has a whole new layer of polish and it looks… magical.
The folks behind the project released a trailer for version 2 of this project last month, so apologies if you’ve seen this already but I’m kind of blown away by how good this looks for a fan project. As a fan of Ocarina of Time, and an even bigger fan of A Link To The Past, this is something of a dream game for me. THIS IS MY FAN FICTION.
Version 2 isn’t playable yet, the team estimates it’ll be done and dusted this winter (meaning Australian summer). You can find out more about the project here.

Oh man this looks amazing. I almost wish Nintendo would just hire these guys and put it out officially when it’s done as a downloadable deal.
PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!
Version 0.2 not 2 just so people know it is still very much work in progress.
Looks good, but at the same time some areas look like they more wanted to directly translate as opposed to making it work better in 2D. Mainly the shot of Hyrule Town looks horribly large.
There’s been a bunch of these, and they never seem to get too far before they’re abandoned.
I wonder if anyone remembers an Aussie who went by the handle of Dampe who attempted this years and years ago. Faked his death to get out of it and everything, was fucking hilarious.
What a cunt.
