Here's What The Evolutions Of Pokemon Sun And Moon's Starters Look Like

Meet Dartrix, Torracat and Brionne. Looks like no matter what starter you pick in Sun and Moon, you're in for something cute as an evolution.

Torracat highlights: Has a little cowlick. Has a bell, just like a real cat might (except it's made out of fire). IT MAKES FLIPPIN' BISCUITS!

From the official description:

The bell-like object attached at the base of Torracat's neck is a flame sac, an organ that can produce flames. Torracat's emotions cause a rise in the organ's temperature, and when the organ spits flames, it rings with the high, clear sound of a bell. Torracat attacks using the flames emitted from this bell.

Dartrix highlights: Dat hair. This 'mon can literally do a hairflip. Also, it giggles.

From the official description:

Revealing a certain snobbiness in its personality, Dartrix cares a great deal about its appearance, grooming its feathers in every spare moment. In truth, it's also a bit of a birdbrain, with a tendency to bungle things up. Once it makes a mistake, it sometimes gets into a desperate struggle to gloss over the situation and ends up making a bigger mess than ever.

Brionne highlights: Aww, what an adorable dress. So dainty.

From the official description:

Brionne learns its dances by imitating the other members of its colony. It sometimes even learns dances from humans. This Pokémon is a hard worker and pours itself into its efforts until it has memorized each dance. As it dances, Brionne creates balloon after balloon. In battle, it first sends its opponent into disarray with its dancing, and then slaps its balloons into its target, causing the balloons to explode and deal damage.
Brionne always acts cheery and positive. Even when it's feeling sad, this Pokémon doesn't allow its sorrow to show. It's said that Brionne will only reveal a sad expression to a Pokémon or Trainer to whom it has opened its heart completely.

Within the recently released trailer, Game Freak also unveiled a couple of new mechanics, including Festival Plaza, which appears to be a social hub for players, and Poke Pelago, a "paradise" for monsters in your PC. The latter reminds me of Sonic's Chao Garden:

In this case, Pelago lets you attract wild creatures; Pokemon can also collect items and can train on their own, among other things.

Oh, and mega evolutions are indeed back this time around, for those of you wondering.

Also news: There will be a demo for Sun and Moon that drops on October 18, during which you'll be accompanied by this fellow:

The Greninja will be transferable to the full game, which releases on November 18.

And now, some GIFs for your viewing pleasure:

Team owlet is still the team for me ;)

The new Pokemon reveals to date only suggest that they've run out of ideas for new Pokemon.

Isn't that what everyone says every release?

The Pokemon Company creates mons based on an inanimate object: 'they've run out of ideas for new Pokemon'

The Pokemon Company creates mons based on animals/living things: 'they've run out of ideas for new Pokemon'

The Pokemon Company creates mons that are not based onanything and are completely original: 'they've run out of ideas for new Pokemon'

Ya'll need to make up your mind. K?

I've said it before I'll say it again, disliking them is fine. Saying they've run out of ideas is a ridiculously unfair argument. Seems like people just get grumpy that not every Pokemon is Charizard.

Litten's evolution looks pretty cool, but I'm still concerned that its final form will be that bipedal monstrosity from those "leaked" images. I'm sick of fire starters that end up being fighting sub-types (or in this case, just looking like one).
I really want to make a cat team in Sun, so depending on what Litten's final form is I may end up just using Torracat with an Eviolite.

Dartrix = Matt Smith incarnation of Dr Hoo.

Torracat looks like he should be off complaining about Mondays and eating lasagna.
