There’s A New Jagged Alliance Game, Launches This Autumn

Previous attempts to bring the Jagged Alliance franchise back haven’t been met with much success. But hey, it’s 2018, and turn-based strategy is cool. So who wants another Jagged Alliance game?

It’s called Jagged Alliance: Rage, and it’s being developed by Cliffhanger Productions – the same crew behind Jagged Alliance Online: Reloaded, if you remember that. Jagged Alliance: Rage will release in the autumn some time, and there’s a little teaser trailer below.

I don’t mind the low-poly look of the cinematics – it reminds me of the pre-rendered cut-scenes the original games had. Rage is set 20 years after the original Jagged Alliance, and it’s described as a “spin-off”.

There’s not much to go on, really. The Steam page does have a bunch of screenshots helping illustrate the general look of it all.

I’m a little sceptical, to be honest. The game will include two-player online co-op, boss-style “commanders” that coordinate enemy troops, different experimental drugs that can be used to manipulate enemies, and some RPG elements for your mercenaries.

Jagged Alliance: Rage will be playable at Gamescom next week, and will release Rage on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
