This Week In Games: An Apocalyptic Artifact

We’re getting to the quieter end of the year when it comes to blockbuster releases. But interesting games? There’s still plenty of those. How about an Asterix remaster, Valve’s digital dabble into card games, the first expansion for Battletech, a new grand space sandbox in X4 and the Switch’s first cricket game.

Here’s This Week In Games:

  • Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 (PC, PS4, Xbox, Switch)
  • X4: Foundations (PC)
  • Darksiders 3 (PC, PS4, Xbox)
  • Big Bash Boom (PS4, Xbox, Switch)
  • Pro Fishing Simulator (PC, PS4)
  • Artifact (PC)
  • Battletech: Flashpoint (PC)
  • RIDE 3 (PC, PS4, Xbox)
  • My Little Riding Champion (Xbox)
  • GoatPunks (Xbox)
  • The First Tree (Xbox, Switch)
  • Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 (Switch)
  • Ark: Survival Evolved (Switch)
  • Spintires Mudrunner: American Wilds (Switch)

  • This War of Mine (Switch)
  • Horizon Chase: Turbo (Switch)
  • Cattails (Switch)
  • Mordheim: Warband Skirmish (Switch)
  • ABZU (Switch)
  • Escape Doodland (Switch)
  • Marenian Tavern Story (Switch)
  • Coffee Crisis (Switch)
  • Stardust Galaxy Warriors (Switch)
  • Okunoka (Switch)
  • Secret Files: Tunguska (Switch)
  • Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery (Switch)
  • Race Arcade (Switch)
  • I AM THE HERO (Switch)

Here’s a snippet of what to expect from each of the games, starting with some uncommentated footage from the opening of Darksiders 3.

The Asterix & Obelix remaster doesn’t look half bad. Definitely some games to keep an eye on this week: how fair will Artifact‘s monetisation system be, who’s getting back into Battletech, what the state of X4: Foundations is like at launch, and what the appetite for a cricket game on the Switch is. (Or other platforms.) And I imagine we’ll hear plenty about Darksiders 3 in the coming days.

So, see anything you like this week?
