Awesome. Now I want Ubisoft to hire a ‘Chief Climbing Officer’. Actually, I think I want that job!
The man they’ve hired for the parkour gig is Michael “Frosti” Zernow and his role will be a “strategic advisory role, ensuring an ongoing commitment to the authenticity and accuracy of parkour”.
“I’ve been a long-time fan of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, and it’s one of the few highly visible examples of parkour that attracts younger athletes to the sport every year,” said Zernow.
It makes perfect sense for Ubisoft. Assassin’s Creed is about as established as a series can get, and it appears to be on a pretty consistent annual schedule. There will always be work for a guy like Zernow to do, always things to double and triple check.
I’m hoping this might make for a more evolved leap in Assassin’s Creed’s parkour. I’ll never forget playing the original for the first time — it was gloriously fresh upon release and I feel as if Ubisoft has become a little gun shy when it comes to evolving that core. What we’ve seen of Assassin’s Creed: Unity seems promising in that regard.
Now, about that climbing! Let’s get that sorted next!

I hope he uses parkour to get to the office each morning.
That would have been in the job interview.
“Please attend your interview on the fourth floor. We expect you to use the window.”
Then his finally task would have been to closely tail a competitor or something, within audio range 😉
Wonder if he taught them how to dive into a haystack?
lets just hope this new ‘Chief Climbing Officer’ doesnt try to jump off a building into a bale of hay, bit of a spoiler… but it wont end too well lol
Ubisoft obviously didn’t have a consultant for those *other* games they made that featured parkour type movement – the Prince of Persia games. That prince had some maaaad gravity defying parkour skills.
