Ponies are largely the focus here at BronyCon 2014 in Baltimore, Maryland, but they’re also an accessory, a colourful ticket for fans of other elements of geek culture to join the party. They really do go with anything.
For instance, can you spot the pony in this TF2 cosplay group above? Hint: It’s not the Spy. OK maybe it’s the Spy.
At least he’s sort of in theme. Others don’t care — it’s a convention, they have got an outfit to wear, ponies be damned.

Completely unrelated to My Little Pony, right? Well, maybe not.
DUN DUN DUNNNNNNN.
As I was sitting down to partake of a $US10 plate of convention corn dogs and chips and charge my wheels, a group of Team Fortress 2 cosplayers spontaneously broke into a conga circle in front of me.
This is BronyCon exactly.
Elsewhere, Deadpool is serenading passersby on accordian while Harley Pie (a Harley Quinn/Pinkie Pie mash-up) blasts them with an air cannon. Mari and Link are walking about together. There are people dressed as Baltimore police here.
Oh, those are probably the Baltimore police. I should go sing them “Way Down in the Hole”. They love that.
In closing, “CONGA CONGA CON-GA.”

Bronies… wow.
Thank you for reminding me of the sad state TF2’s community is now in.
Bronies everywhere, all conga-ing around the map instead of playing the damn game.
sub-human
i will never understand the whole pony fad.
Is the cartoon funny or do they just like the look of the toys? I turned into an Adventure Time fan after watching it with my kids, so is it something like that?
It is quite good. I’m a MLP since I was a kid, but the “new” show is hands down the best it has ever been, and is better than about 75% of television at all. I do have a tween daughter, though, so I do enjoy the sharing of it with her as much as anything. But I am a fan regardless, with plenty of figures. >.> I don’t call myself a brony, for Reasons, but my daughter does.
it’s just a means of awkward and strange individuals to feel better about themselves being part of a community that watches a children’s cartoon. Some of the stuff on the internet on these ‘bronies’ is just wrong
there are mlp fans that make mlp fleshlights and hentai.
its twisted.
Wait, why is there TF2 cosplay at bronycon? Shouldn’t they be… ponies? Oh well.
Geeks are geeks. All are welcome at most geek conventions.
