You haven’t played an ASCII role-playing game in some time and you’re feeling gamer’s guilt? That’s OK, an endearing title by the name of SanctuaryRPG is here to rid you of those nasty feelings. Despite being drawn with a limited set of colours and characters, it looks quite good and sufficiently adventurous.
Set in the world of Sanctuary, SanctuaryRPG is a self-described blend of “modern roguelikes and traditional Japanese RPGs”. Along with procedural content, 1400 pieces of equipment, 160 race / class combos, there’s also an original soundtrack you can move your head too as you slay hordes of evil letters.
A full list of features can be found on the game’s Steam page and a demo is available for download. Don’t let appearances fool you — the game in its current state weighs in at 93MB. So there’s definitely some meat there (and a chunky bit of audio I imagine).
SanctuaryRPG is doing the Early Access thing, so if you want to be involved, hit it up on Steam below.

Not the first ASCII RPG on Steam, that title goes to ADOM, which is on Steam but still in beta. Sanctuary appears to be the first ASCII RPG to get a public release.
How can a game with 8-bit music and no textures weigh in at 93MB?!
Does it have an FMV introduction? A 90MB PDF user manual?
