Because we love our readers — even the penniless urchin ones — we’ve concentrated on games that cost under US$10. Most of the games on this list have been slashed by at least 50 per cent and were critically acclaimed at the time of release. (And yes, we realise that after currency conversion some of these games work out to slightly over $10. Deal with it, you ungrateful wretches.)

Satellite Reign – $9.89
I’m surprised this wasn’t mentioned at all, nothing worse than underrated games buried out of charts
I’ve only played 6 games on that list…
Is Black Mesa the graphics make over of half life?
Yes it is. 🙂
Crusader Kings 2 for $9.99
Sadly, most of the stuff on this list is stuff I already own, or am not interested in.
This reminds me of the GOG sale that was on a week or two ago… hmmm…
Sorry, you lost me at “Winter”.
I guess this sale is only for Steam customers in the northern hemisphere.
And in South Australia we have Proclamation Day instead of Boxing Day but that’s not going to stop me buying cheap shirts and bed linen. Go with the flow?
This article doesn’t have the correct Australian prices. See Skyrim, XCOM, etc. Considering how regional pricing gets mentioned a fair bit on Kotaku Australia and Chris is an Australian writer from what I can see, I’m surprised this error was made.
It’s possible they had it on sale for the wrong price and adjusted it. Wouldn’t be the first time they forgot to gouge us. :/
I spent $12US or so and got The Stanley Parable, Influent (plus two extra language packs), 16 bit trader, TIS-100 and Uplink.
16 bit trader was kinda meh, TIS-100 scared me right off even (especially) after looking for a guide (it looks super hard. One for a rainy day I think.) and Uplink is much fun. I feel kinda meh about Steam Sales at the moment. They used to be such massive discounts, and there still are some good buys, just not for the games I actually want.
I was considering Wolfenstein TNO for $8.99 with less than ten dollars left but it is listed at $11.99 on Steam.
On another note, I’m seeing at least a 40GB download which is basically the nail in the coffin.
Oh well. no other games on that list (which I don’t already own) appeal to me.
Clearly you forgot the most important game, Mount Your Friends.
Goddam, if you don’t own transistor, that’s the best deal you’re ever gonna get.
Seriously that’s probably in my top 3 games I’ve ever played. So good!!
Skyrim….$8.74USD…gotta love the aussie tax
The Music Machine – 1.49 USD
Spec Ops isn’t worth the USD $6 they’re charging.
I think you’re the only person I’ve ever seen say Spec Ops isn’t a surprisingly great game.
