It’s July and Game of Thrones is back on the air. Time for a bonus episode of Kotaku Splitscreen.
As we did at the end of last season, Jason and I decided to get together and record a bonus Game of Thrones episode for the season seven premiere.
We focused on a few key questions: Is Sansa really stupid enough to undermine Jon in public, or is she playing a longer game? What is going on with Cersei, and why did Euron really come to see her? And is Game of Thrones too focused on the Night King and his frozen zombie army? (Jason says yes; I say no.)
Listen here:
As always, you can find Splitscreen on Apple Podcasts and Google Play.

I feel like the army of the dead is like an analogy for climate change. The humans are too busy squabbling with each other to take on the real issue and because of that they are going to get wrecked.

Is Game of Thrones too focused on the primary threat of its main story arc, that it has foreshadowed in every previous season? Why is that even a question? Jason is wrong.
This! The primary antagonist are the White Walkers/Others, not the petty squabbling of the rest of the kingdoms, that’s the entire point of the goddamn series thus far. All this other shit that’s going on is totally irrelevant when they turn up to do whatever it is they’re planning to do.
“Winter is coming” isn’t so prolific in the series for no reason.
Google play link doesn’t work. Does Google Play even have a podcast section? I cannot find it.
