The same way Skyrim did last year, Bethesda has announced that their seminal post-apocalyptic wasteland simulator will be getting a Game of the Year edition in late September.
Launching on September 26, the GOTY re-release will feature all updates released to date, graphical tweaks, support for official and unofficial mods and 6 pieces of official DLC.
Fallout 4 logos still look good.
More annoyingly, Bethesda announced that they would be re-releasing the Pip-Boy collectors edition – but only in North America:
To celebrate the Game of the Year Edition, Bethesda will release a limited quantity of Fallout 4 G.O.T.Y. Pip-Boy collector editions, exclusively available in North America at select retailers. The Pip-Boy Edition includes Fallout 4 Game of the Year Edition and will retail for $99.99 USD, and will also release on September 26.
Current US pricing for Fallout 4: G.O.T.Y. is sitting at $US60, so expect to pay full price when it launches down under next month. That’s a fair amount, but not as much as the $US90 it costs to buy Fallout 4 and the Season Pass through Steam. It’s worth remembering that Fallout 4 VR is due out at the end of the year too.
Update: The Fallout 4 GOTY edition will launch in Australia on September 26 as well, in case you were wondering.

LOL, decision not to buy when the regular edition was under $30, vindicated!
Yeah, good move. The game is excellent but the season pass price is ridiculous. They should have stuck with the original price before it got hiked.
It’s pretty weird how the game can be bought for $20 but the season pass is still $80! Especially as it’s a 2 years old game.
I got the game with my xbone and season pass for $50 so I can’t complain!
If I didn’t already own it and have 1800 hours in it I would pick this up 😀
Will it support widescreen now?
Skyrim HD didn’t. Bought. Noticed no wide screen. Spent 30mins nodding it. Was knee deep in the the .ini file when I came to my senses. Applied for refund.
I shouldn’t have to mod the game just to play it nicely. Not when it itself is a remaster.
what? games havent been 4:3 for well over a decade? what are you talking about?
I assume he means ultrawide. Fallout 4 doesn’t natively support aspect ratios past 16:9. You can either use a mod, which gives you a flawless fix, or manually change the ini files which gives you ultrawide resolution but with a stretched HUD.
