Browsing German artist HeavyMetalHanzo’s gallery and realising how much potential some video games and video game worlds have as Western cartoons or comics makes me sad. Most of these will probably never get such a treatment, and these amazing pieces remain the closest things.
In 1989, marking the start of the blue-clad ninja’s two-and-a-half decade career, the first Strider game was released in arcades throughout Japan and North America. From then on, it was a road filled with cameos, curious localisation decisions, and slashed-up baddies.
Today at Comic-Con, Capcom announced a new entry in their long-dormant Strider series. IGN is at the panel, reporting that the game will just be called Strider and is being developed by Double Helix, the studio behind Silent Hill Homecoming and Battleship.
