This weekend your temp ed has some Dad duty on the cards tomorrow, so I’ll be playing some three-year-old friendly games.
That usually means a mix of kid hands on like Mario Kart Wii, Super Rub-a-Dub and Calling All Cars, and hands off as he watches me play some G and PG rated stuff. This weekend that’s probably going to be some catch up on Forza 3 and Need for Speed Shift. And maybe some Vancouver 2010?
It’s an interesting battle finding the right balance in a game that keeps them interested while you play but they don’t. But the iPhone steps up there, too, as you can always bust that out so they can play something like Real Racing along side you, content in the sense that they’re participating.
Of course, we don’t just play games… just to get that out there before I’m labelled…
What’s spinning up for you this weekend?

Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 10:55 AMLots of demo’s for me this weekend. AvP, Bad Company 2 and Heavy Rain.
Will try and get some more time with co-op in Borderlands, put in a nice 4 hour effort last night. This game shouldn’t be played solo, so much better in co-op.

Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 6:53 PMI tried the AvP demo (PC). The developers have a LOT of work to do if they want to release a good game. Game Matching for PC, unbalanced gameplay, confusing controls and a heap of graphical glitches. The only reason I may consider picking this game up is in the hope that the singleplayer is any good.

Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 11:21 AMDarksiders tonight hopefully. I’m upto the first boss and got sidetracked about 3 weeks ago & have been yet to go back (stupid IRL getting in the road).
Otherwise I’ll be playing the fun game of “long distance running training”, in which I’m going for a 5-7km run today and probably tomorrow in prep. for a 10km charity fun run in a few weeks time.

Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 11:41 AMwell, i haven’t been able to finish fallout 3 yet so i have 2 do that some time before new vegas so that might be this weekend. But i have some games i bought on holidays that i haven’t finished and i’m sure modern warfare 2 will find its way in some how.

Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 11:51 AMThe first Mass Effect. To put it straight, I’m not a RPG fan because I can’t stand turn based action. But I do love action and a great story. It wasn’t until Fallout 3 that my attitude began to change and realised that action + RPG can become friends. Now 4 hours into Mass Effect I can’t put it down and can’t wait to sink into it’s sequel!

Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 2:10 PMYou let your kid play with your iPhone? If I had one, or really if I had BOTH, I don’t think I’d be game to put the two together lest one baby does something terrible to the other.

Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 9:59 PMMy 3yo is almost entirely fluent in iPhone usage. She can navigate the menus, recognise and open the games she wants to play & for the most part figure out what to do. Bejewelled 2 is her #1 favourite along with some drawing/doodle app that makes noises when you draw things.

Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 2:29 PMBattlefield Bad Company 2 PS3 Demo, already sunk about 3-4hrs into it yesterday, can’t wait for the final release. Also, gotta finish playing through Dante’s Inferno…it’s a decent game, but just seems to be the appetiser before the real thing, God of War III. Oh an the AvP demo…if the matchmaking actually finds me a game….

Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 3:09 PMMass Effect 2, taking my time playing through all the side missions and getting the achievements out of the way. Also teeing up a copy of Bioshock 2, already have one on preorder but I’m not sure which edition my local Gametraders is getting.

Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 9:48 PMLast night I picked up Mass Effect 2 and Mirror’s Edge incredibly cheaply, will be trying to divide my time between them, maybe GTAIV (to which I’m currently addicted) and Metal Gear Solid 2 (which I found last week), of course with kids I only have a finite window to play all these great adults only games!

Sunday, February 7, 2010 at 12:27 AMI’m on the fence, just finished Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Which I got with my second hand PS3. Have to choose between continuing with my Fable 2, starting Bioshock again (never finished the 15% odd play-through I started last year) or trying out Killzone 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum or three of the other games I got with the 2nd hand PS3.
Any suggestions, I’m thinking I should finish either Fable 2 or start and finish Bioshock.

Sunday, February 7, 2010 at 1:04 AMGoing to atempt to finish off Darksiders and see how far I can get in FFCC: The Crystal Bearers. I’m only a short way through the game and it’s combat is already starting to bore me. But I hear it gets better later on.
I also wanna look around for a copy of Mass Effect on PC, which is really hard to find now, even though I saw like three copy’s last week in Gametraders and some EB stores. I don’t really wanna play it on 360, and I can’t play Mass Effect 2 until I’ve beaten the first one. :(
