Get The First Episode Of Back To The Future Free!

Kotaku AU

Great Scott!

So you want the first episode of Telltale Games’ upcoming Back to the Future game for free? Of course you do! If you head here and register on Telltale’s website, they’ll send you a redeemable key for the game.

You don’t have to insert any payment details, but you do have to put in your address, and an email. The game is currently slated for a December release, and while it’s easy to be cynical about a stunt like this, we think it’s a great move by Telltale games – we’ll play the first episode free, tell our friends about the game, and probably buy the rest of the episodes regardless. Everybody’s happy.

My serial number is currently sitting in my inbox – will you guys be following suit?

This story should now be the place where you put awesome quotes from Back to the Future.

    That’s heavy!

I was getting somewhat excited about this game, and to find out that you can get the first episode free is super awesome.

There’s that word again; “heavy”. Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the earth’s gravitational pull?

Pfft, Blah’s obviously got no sense of nostalgia. Probably a Gen Y’er who never appreciated the original when it was released.

Great Scott! I hope this doesn’t cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space-time continuum and destroy the entire universe!

“it’s easy to be cynical about a stunt like this”

I honestly don’t see anything to be cynical about. This + their recent Tales of Monkey Island deal = my summer holidays made even greater.

Back in my day, they’d just let us download the first episode of Doom™ without getting my details.

Amusement aside, this is a good move by Telltale (They did something similar with Wallace & Gromit a while ago, although stupidly not the ‘first ever’ episode.)

Mind you, I suspect the online gamers aged 30+ will be much more enthused about BTTF than W&G.

I just hope the download wont be “1.21 Giggawatts… 1.21 GIGGAWATTS”

I know there is a difference between a giggabyte and a watt but whatever… all the good phrases had been taken already.

    Also…

I hope i dont have to fight for that key…. “i’m just not that good at… ‘confrontations’ *sigh*”

    Also, “whats a re-run”

Dear god i love that movie! Going to get this for sure.

Site was running fine at 2.50pm.

Also my 1.21 gigawatts comment seems less funny now that I see their promotion code!

I remember having an… energetic debate over this. My friend insisted it was “gigawatt”, and I insisted it was “jiggawatt”. I settled the argument via the miracles of modern technology (youtube on my iPhone).

Me: So TellTale, you’re giving away the first episode of Back to the Future? This seems to good to be true, what’s the catch?

Telltale: Well, the catch is quite simply… OH MY GOD WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!?!? (Points behind me)

Looking forward to this. Both Sam and Max and Tales of Monkey Island exceeded my expectations. Strongbad was OK, but i wasn’t really a fan of wallace and grommit.
