Speaking to MCV, Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot claimed that a new Assassin’s Creed will be coming this year, stating that it will be “something interesting around the Assassin’s brand.”
Guillemot didn’t expand further, but reading between the lines, it’s possible that this year’s Assassin’s Creed game may not be a direct sequel. Of course, at this early stage it’s impossible to be sure.
Yves Guillemot also expanded on his desire to overtake the ‘big two’ in Activision and EA.
“We are the number three company in the world on our own – and our goal is to beat those guys,” he claimed.
“We got from number 25 to number three, so we think we can continue and that it is possible. It’s not certain, of course, but we are taking the steps that we think will get us there.”

Monday, April 11, 2011 at 5:38 PMYup – if it’s the same quality as AC:B, I won’t mind at all.

Monday, April 11, 2011 at 5:27 PMI guess Ubisoft looked at Activision and Call of Duty and said “hey wow, look at that! NO ONE is getting sick of that franchise coming out EVERY YEAR! We should totally do that!”
Ubisoft, rotate your franchises. Couldn’t we get a Far Cry 3 or maybe Beyond Good and Evil 2 in between the onslaught which is Assassin’s Creed?
Less Activision. More Rockstar. ;)

Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 4:54 PMDon’t say another Goddamn word. Up until now, I’ve been polite. If you say anything else – word one – I will kill myself. And when my tainted spirit finds its destination, I will topple the master of that dark place. From my black throne, I will lash together a machine of bone and blood, and fueled by my hatred for you this fear engine will bore a hole between this world and that one. When it begins, you will hear the sound of children screaming – as though from a great distance. A smoking orb of nothing will grow above your bed, and from it will emerge a thousand starving crows. As I slip through the widening maw in my new form, you will catch only a glimpse of my radiance before you are incinerated. Then, as tears of bubbling pitch stream down my face, my dark work will begin. I will open one of my six mouths, and I will sing the song that ends the Earth.

Monday, April 11, 2011 at 5:47 PMInteresting, as much as I’m irked by calling it a “brand” and not, y’know, a creative process.

Monday, April 11, 2011 at 5:48 PMbe interesting to see how this one turns out considering they lost three of their key devs.

Monday, April 11, 2011 at 5:51 PMAC3 in 2012, as predicted.
Unsure what to make of this announcement, other than that, but hopes high as AC:B didn’t disappoint.

Monday, April 11, 2011 at 5:57 PMInteresting…
Something to look forward to before AC3?

Monday, April 11, 2011 at 6:14 PMOh goody, another title ready to be milked in a yearly release schedule by a greedy publisher… RIP quality AC titles :(

Monday, April 11, 2011 at 6:19 PMIf its going to be like brotherhood then count me out. I want the main storyline to move on, I’m tired of Ezio and the backdrop of Italy.

Monday, April 11, 2011 at 8:02 PMIt was confirmed long before Brotherhood came out that it’d be the last game with Ezio and Italy… although I wouldn’t at all mind another game with Ezio, I think he’s a brilliant character.

Monday, April 11, 2011 at 8:40 PMagreed. haven’t finished AC:B, as i got to a point (just before going after Cesare?), after upgrading 99% of Roma, doing an oodle of side-missions, i just got bored (so I started playing my newly bought DA:O).
Never ever got bored with AC1-2. Loved every minute. Now AC:B is just hanging out for a rainy day.
I hope this new AC spinoff will a) not feature ezio, and b) not take 10+ months to reach the PC.

Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 7:08 AMI have to say that if you really liked AC:1-2 you have to finish AC:B. The ending is crazy as hell and it def adds to “our time” story.

Monday, April 11, 2011 at 6:28 PMill be kind of disappointed if assassins creed 3 doesn’t come out this year’, but if they need the extra year to work on it i’m not going to complain. I honestly don’t think franchise fatigue is an issue as long as the game is good.

Monday, April 11, 2011 at 6:54 PMIt could be a 3ds spin off.

Monday, April 11, 2011 at 8:38 PMReturn to Altair or something for the 3DS/NGP
Raif
Monday, April 11, 2011 at 11:07 PMI’d like to see the return of Altair on an hd console, not really a fan of handheld assasins creed due to the limit on scope and how many people u can have on screen at once
