Since its massive Kickstarter success, Torment: Tides Of Numenera has been on the boil for a little longer than everyone expected. But after announcing earlier this year the game’s release would be sliding into 2017, developer inXile has now declared February 28 as the day backers — and indeed, all interested parties — will be able to play the finished product.
The news comes via a Kickstarter update (and a rather sad trailer) from inXile’s VP of development Chris Keenan:
We are extremely excited to announce that Torment: Tides of Numenera will be releasing February 28th, 2017! It has been a long journey, and without your help on Kickstarter it would never have happened. We could not be happier to be delivering a successor to the Torment name and legacy, and we look forward to you enjoying it early next year.
Of course, the beta release has been available for a while now, so those who were desperate to play it have had the opportunity. If this is you and you coughed up cash for the Kickstarter, you’re probably more interested in the rewards and other physical goodies. Fortunately, Keenan addresses this aspect too:
For those of you with physical goods, we’ll be prompting you to confirm your final shipping information in the near future. We do not have an exact shipping timeline for those goods just yet, but Techland is hard at work getting them ready for you as soon as possible. Please be sure to keep us advised of any changes by updating your shipping details on the Torment backer web site!
Which I guess is good news! At the very least, you know exactly what dates you should sort out your annual leave for.
