Aussie Nintendo Store: We Miss Out On Golf Jokes…

We’re nearing the end of the year so we’re expecting Nintendo honour us with tons of great games leading up to the holidays. Well, they’re giving us a couple. While no update can top last week’s (well maybe Shantae), this week stands on its own two feet. Check it out.

WiiWare
Ben 10: Alien Force – The Rise Of Hex (Konami, 1,000 Wii Points) Every 10 year old’s favourite cartoon character has landed on WiiWare. Ben Tennyson is a magical kid who has the ability to morph into a bunch of different alien thanks to this device known as the Omnitrix. This means that instead of the game just being boring with a kid running around beating up things, it means there’s a bunch of cool aliens beating up other more evil aliens. This one is actually pretty good, properly for the younger ones out there though.

New Demos
Dive: The Medes Islands Secret, worth checking out.

DSiWare
Divergent Shift (Konami, 800 Nintendo DSi Points) A beautiful looking dual screen platformer. Yes, I realise it is on the Nintendo DSi, but it actually uses both screens for the entire action. It’s slightly on the short side though, but it’s good while it lasts.

Arc Style: Everyday Football (Arc System Works, 500 Nintendo DSi Points) See what Arc System Works have done here? No it’s not an art style game, it’s Arc baby. This mini-soccer game plays a lot like Super Mario Strikers, just not as polished.

Virtual Console
Wolf Of The Battlefield: Commando (VC Arcade, Capcom, 800 Wii Points) The oft forgotten Virtual Console Arcade gets a refresh with not one but two classic arcade games. First up is Wolf of the Battlefield from good old 1985. Impressive for its day, this arcade classic doesn’t hold up so well now. Fortunately the next arcade game does.

SonSon (VC Arcade, Capcom, 800 Wii Points) This one is from 1984, puts you in controls of a fireball throwing monkey boy. Yup, sounds like a Capcom game to me. Your goal in this one? To reach the statue of buddha. This arcade version, the original is probably the best version of SonSon out there, so if you’re keen on some retro arcade action this weekend. This is probably your best bet.

This week Australia misses out on My Fireplace for WiiWare, 101 MiniGolf World and Biorhythmn for DSiWare. Worse still is missing out on my Fireplace and Golf jokes, they were well above par.
