WHERES THE TRIGGERRRRRR
What efforts have gaming journalist made to find out where, why and what is happening to Half-Life 3?
It seems to me that the media just sits around waiting for press releases and gaming conferences. What investigative journalism has been done? How about paying someone at value $10k to spill beans? What about a good old fashion bit of cat burglary? Why aren’t their any jilted ex-girlfriends (or boyfriends) ready to spill the beans? Why aren’t you people going through Gabe’s rubbish to find material to blackmail him on? Instead of derogatory posts on dotcom why not create a campaign that Kotaku will post negative Valve post daily, hourly until they finally tell us something more then “when its done it will be done”.
Why damn it!

Mark needs a cardboard box to sneak into Valve, Solid Snake style.
We just need to work out his codename.

Are there any interesting myths left for mythbusters to bust? Looks like they’ve been at the bottom of the barrel for a while now…
-
That’s a myth!
-
All myths are perpetuated by the people behind Snopes, to keep the traffic going on their website.
-
When I first discovered Snopes (pre-mythbusters), I felt like the smartest person in the world.

Well there’s plenty if they did some real research or took more suggestions from the community. There’s also plenty of stuff Hollywood does that in some ways seems plausible. Personally explosions every episode are quite boring, I would love to see more myths tackled from Burn Notice & other such TV shows since that show is full of stuff for Mythbusters to do. Yet they’ve picked some of the worst things from that show it’s quite sad.
-
Also speaking of Mythbusters I put up a suggestion on the forum, only to be attacked in the second post and saying it’s an active topic already and all this, well I am sorry but the search on the forum doesn’t even work, how about that.
-
I can’t imagine they take huge notice from their forums for suggestions, or there are a lot of things holding them back (maybe safety concerns or budget). Surely the internet community would be able to keep these guys relevant.
-
Well they like to say they take fan suggestions on the show.

They seem to do a lot of Hollywood reference stuff already. But it’s fairly uninteresting things like “if two cars are locked together, can they drift around a turn?” or “can you really jump into a dumpster?”.
You’re right though, Burn Notice would be a great resource.-
Yep! One I am thinking of in particular Season 1 episode 3 where Michael rigs a motion censor security light to ring his phone when someone is detected outside the garage at his mothers. That’s just one I can think of at the moment that I would like to know if possible.
-
Oh it’s definitely Something that can be done. The only question is what he added to the system to achieve it which is why they would never do it.
I don’t remember the specifics of the episode. But the detector is essentially a switch if it detects something it switches on. Connect that wire to whatever you want to trigger and your pretty much set( in the case of the phone the easiest way to jerry rig it would be to have the phone with the number typed in and the trigger wire going to call button(would need to be reset when it’s triggered but it would work.
Much in the same way as last weeks ep had Sam put shotgun shells in motion detectors using the electronic

They’re engineering hacks and plausible as hell. The only difference is the show may take some creative license I how they achieve the desired outcome
-
Yeah good point. But I do think it would be interesting to see Mythbusters take on it.

Got to remember though that their format is kinda strict.
Myths that either turn out to be real almost instantly can’t be used to fill up one half of the show. Same as those that turn out to be impossible straight up from their small scale rigs.
I bet they have a heap of myths that went one way or the other but were simply shit TV
-
Yeah, it’s all about being able to stretch it out. Which kinda disappoints me how now they’re only doing 2 myths per episode as opposed to when the show first came about they did a lot more per episode or season.

If the air we breathe contains helium should we all talk a bit deeper if it was removed and we didn’t die?
Pretty soon I think the show will become nothing more than the hosts asking the question ‘Is X flammable / explosive?” & then attempting to cause X to flame / explode.
& I am quite ok with this.
-
It’s almost that now. But it was a bit more interesting when they had at least an air of legitimacy. We already have “Will it blend?” to satiate the destructive masses.
Have Darksiders or Sleeping Dogs broken street date yet?
-
Sleeping dogs broke street date on steam and darks users is already out on steam 😀
-
Go autocorrect on the phone woot woot.
How is dark users a valid correction to darksiders.

Will we be able to customize cars in the new NFS Most Wanted?
Will GW2 ever get Oceanic servers?
-
No idea
Unlikely. Oceanic servers would have several issues when it comes to WvWvW.
And until server hosting in Australia stops being ridiculously expensive it’s not going to happen any time soon.
Hell to run a min spec dayz server per month would cost about $400-500 a month. It costs only a fraction of that for a similar server overseas
The XCOM from Firaxis getting an Australian release date yet ? RRP ?
