   Same thing that was wrong with it 3 months ago, no system selling ganes, barely even anything for the casual market that isn’t just a HD rehash of the same sort of games you can get on the Wii.

   Lego City is the first game I’ve bought for it this year, and that was brilliant (the only downfall for me, massive frame rate drops… far more frustrating than the loading times).

   Doom and gloom aside, I do think it still has a chance to come good. It seems to be in exactly the same position the 3DS was at launch. I’ll give it another year or so before I write it off completely.

   I’ve enjoyed the handful of games the WiiU does have at the moment, so hopefully there will be plenty more.

   I bought my WiiU around launch and it’s sat gathering dust once I tapped Mario. There’s ZombiU to play, admittedly, but I just don’t feel the compulsion to turn it on.
   It just needs more compelling games.

      If you haven’t played ZombiU, you’re missing out on possibly the best game on the console. It’s also an entirely unique game as far as any platform is concerned, not just for the WiiU – get on it!

   I have enjoyed what few games I’ve played: Mario, Nintendo Land, Lego City, Little Inferno. Nothing revolutionary yet, and my number one favourite feature is still off-screen play.

   But: few games seem to offer off-screen play. The load times are terrible in the UI and Lego City, and I’m not sure how much of that the much-vaunted system update will fix. Worst of all, it seems that the Playstation 4 announcement has dreamcasted it – the publishers are not making games, and the public are waiting for the vaguely described powerhouse a year or so down the line.

   I’ve definitely spent more time with my 360 since buying the Wii U. Give me the option to play the games I’m currently playing on 360 with off-screen play, and that alone would make me happy. But it just isn’t happening 🙁

      I’m not sure how much of that the much-vaunted system update will fix
      Not sure if I’m remembering correctly, but it was tested early on (un-official) and took system load times from something like 40 seconds down to 8.

         I saw the video. 8 seconds is still pretty terrible to go between system menus. And there’s no word on whether it’s just fixes to the UI software, or fixing some underlying kernel issue that will improve the loading times of actual games. Many people are hoping it’s the latter, but I’m fairly sure they will be disappointed to learn that it’s the former.

         Man, quit making me negative Nintendo! Blow me away with some Wii U awesomeness!

      “dreamcasted” should become a verb because (as a former owner of a Dreamcast, not a WiiU though) it seems to be a familiar setting, although Sega’s machine had a LOT more first party content

      What I reckon Nintendo needs to give them a shove
      a) I think they’ve actually done well with third parties, they got a Tekken game FFS, that’s never happened before! Tekken was the reason I bought a PS1, otherwise it would have been N64 all the way.

      It’s good they’re getting Deus Ex, Watch Dogs and Splinter Cell and the new AC IV.

      They need Grand Theft Auto, even if it’s a few months later, GTA IV has been selling 360’s and PS3s for years now, just about everyone who buys one of those consoles buys that game, it’s still in the 360’s top 20 every month! I doubt GTA V will fit on one 360 disc, but I know it will fit on one WiiU disc, I hope for Nintendo that the Rockstar delay was because Reggie drove to NY with a sack of money and clobbered Dan Houser with it!

      They need to clean up their feud with Evil, err Electronic Arts, despite the fact that EA suck, crap like FIFA and Madden sells consoles, a Madden where you work out your plays using the pad is a no-brainer and if they could get one to support two pads at once it would be a system seller.

      Also Battlefield is a big omission, despite the fact that I think EA are killing Battlefield by trying to turn it into COD by shoehorning in Single Player and Co-op modes that nobody wants, it is a series in the ascendancy which means that more people are gonna buy BF4 than bought BF3, Nintendo needs to be on those trains when they pull out of the station. Excuses about Frostbite are also bullsh!te, if Crytek can get CryEngine 3 running on the machine then none of these other people (Epic, DICE) should have any trouble whatsoever

      b) Exclusives are usually a Nintendo strength, so far though we’ve got NSMBU, Nintendoland, ZombiU, Monster Hunter and Lego City (both also on 3DS) and now Pikmin 3. The N64 was a lot like this to, in that it took about two years almost for a lot of really good stuff to come out but this is what Nintendo needs…

      A new Star Fox with four player co-op (either online or in the room) with each person playing one of the characters, and massive multiplayer dogfight space battles online.

      A new F-Zero game, racing has almost become homogenized this gen with your Forza’s indistinguishable from your Need for Speeds to the naked eye, a futuristic racer would give the whole genre a kick in the pants

      to go to Capcom, buy the rights to Mega Man, hire that studio in Texas that’s doing the 3DS Batman game and get them to finish their Mega Man FPS, then hire Kenji Inafune to make that Mega Man Universe game (the one with the level editor)

      Remake the original Wario Land game (the first one) in HD, that game was Brilliant

      Do a Super Mario All Stars, but using the New Super Mario engine and remaking SMW into the bargain

      Talk to those Free to Play guys (like Sony has been doing) if people can play shooters for free which they’d otherwise need a decent PC to run, it might move systems.

      Make their first GC game on the Virtual Console MGS: The Twin Snakes (and promote the frak out of it)

    Love the Wii-U but besides Mario, AC III and Nintendo Land none of the titles appeal to me at all. I think this is like the weakest system for games ever (At least wave race was good).

    But yeah much like Batguy, it’s just bad timing… they really need to be pumping out games or pimping their E-Store for emulated stuff. It’s all really clunky and there’s literally nothing to play.
    I really think they shouldve had a wii sports-U…. that ONE game alone had so much replay value that it didn’t matter about the other 95% of waggle-wear that was around.

    I love the console and the price point was SUPER reasonable… but cmon I WANT to give you money but I have nothing to buy… sucks.

       Yeah. The only solution to a dreamcasting is games. Lots and lots of games. Doesn’t matter how rubbish they are, frankly. You can’t simply rely upon the novelty factor of the device because it has already been turned into old news.

       Get the games out there, get the public seeing them around as implicit advertising for you. If they see the games, they’ll buy the system, then buy more games and publishers will want to make more of them, because they like making money. But if there’s no games available for the gaming system, why exactly are they going to buy it?

          It’s so annoying how precious they are over their first party titles. Like I get mario kart, mario worlds, zelda, metroid are all great but you can’t have a company that primarily drip feeds the equivalent of 1-2 first party titles a year.

          Did you watch the video for the Luigi DLC… the way they were talking about it is like “This is practically like a brand new game”. I just keep thinking… yeah it’s called DLC, everyone but you guys have been doing it forever. It’s taken basically a year to pump it out… I would have rathered a whole new game then you expending efforts on this.

          I think the model they have could work but they need to be bringing out the stuff more often… I think a lot of people got burned on the Wii and what they’re doing with the Wii-U now isn’t winning anyone over.

    I love my Wii U. Nintendoland was the best multiplayer experience I’ve had. It would be great if they had more games to pick from, I’m assuming the resounding silence on upcoming games is a ramp up for E3.

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzz. I’ve already played more or less all I want to of the type of games that hardware on par with Wii U can allow for. Jamming a resistive touch screen into the mix really doesn’t spice things up enough for me to want to keep playing the same old stuff we’ve had for the past 7 years.

    I’m looking for the kind of new experience that can only be enabled by a more capable platform, it’s why I spend all my time on the PC these days and only turn on my consoles once every 3 months (at best).

    Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate has changed my opinion from “Did I make a mistake buying a Wii U?” to “I’ve completely justified this purchase”. I think I’m well past 100 hours on MH3U at this point, and still going.

    Personally, I’m happy with it.

          Handy hint for starting off in the game: utilise the in-game manual, and a wiki (when necessary). The only fault I have with the game is it does’t explain every aspect as much as I wanted it to. Only a minor issue, fortunately.

             The demo for this game is rubbish i almost didnt buy this game because of it. I mean they just give you a choice of one of each weapon and expect you to figure out how to play? WTF. Needless to say i couldnt kill even the ‘Easy Monster’ in the Demo because i didnt know what the hell i was doing. So after one try of the Demo i was put off the game. But, a cousin of mine decided to buy the console just for this game so i took the plunge and it was well worth it. Takes a long time to understand and alot of hours grinding your way through the hunts and scavenging for stuff but it is supremely rewarding and great with Coop play. One of my best purchases on the Wii U, but you really need to stick by the game and like Rize said you need to read up on it. The game doesnt do a good job of explaining what you need to do, which makes it hard considering this is my first Monster hunter game.

       I agree completely. MH3U got me over the line on the Wii U. I’m about 120hours in and loving it. All I need now is some Zelda, Metroid, Smash brothers and a couple of other Nintendo exclusives to come out and I’ll be completely satisfied with my purchase.

    I was saying to a friend today that the Virtual Console title selection is attractive as a reason to have a Wii U but it’s not really going to convince me to buy one because there is nothing that makes me want to keep playing it. I think Nintendo is trying a bit too hard to appeal to the “core” gamer audience by way of releasing titles that are already out on PS3 and XBox 360 with poorly designed tablet controller integration. They need to start focusing on new and compelling experiences to promote the second screen as a valuable gaming utility. Personally, I feel the Wii-U and 3DS should have been combined like the Vita and PS3. Both are separate gaming devices but can be used together to enhance the experience.

    I still like the console, but Nintendo and their release schedules…

    I bought the Wii U as a means of sharing my hobby of video games with my partner… We were really looking forward to playing Rayman together (then i had to explain video game delays to her… damn you rayman!) The purpose of the Wii U (for us) is couch co-op and the dual screen is the basis of that purpose. Without the games to support the reason we bought the machine then it is just taking up space in our loungeroom….

    I’ll probably pick one up, but I don’t think a Nintendo has been my go to console since the SNES. It’s more of a place for Metroid, Zelda and Mario for me. I guess I’m part of the reason why developers won’t develop for the wii and wii u, even if they sell like gang busters.

    Can’t justify spending $400 – $500 just to play monster hunter online.
    More games, price drop, possibly a better hardware revision on the gamepad, then I’ll join this party. That’s the set of circumstances that convinced me to get the 3DS…

    I love my Wii U. I also haven’t turned it on all year. NintendoLand was fantastic, and I even loved NSMBU (expectations weren’t that high for it, I was so happy to be proven wrong). ZombiU was awesome, and I still need to finish it.

    But that’s still pretty much everything to pick from. I’ve got some vague interest in Lego City, and would have picked up Monster Hunter if I hadn’t already sunk 120 hours into Tri on Wii/have somewhat of a vendetta against Capcom. I was MASSIVELY hanging out for Rayman, but we all know what happened there.

    The drought really needs breaking.

       Sadly that was the first game that made me start considering the system, then the game in general turned out to have been an average game from 2006 and then the wiiu version was canceled. Only other game was zombiu but that’s nowhere near enough to sell it to me

    Ever since monster hunter has come out that’s been pretty much everything I actually do gaming wise. I’m sure they’ll have a Wii U related Nintendo Direct sometime close to E3 or perhaps even E3 itself to show off a few new things as well as old things we’ve probably forgotten about.

    Great console. Really like it. But where (TF) are the games?

    That’s it’s only problem right now. I’m sure when I’m using it more I’ll find some more, right off the bat I think HDMI and OPT outputs were a silly thing to not put on, but it just needs games.

    I’m still annoyed they didn’t make the primary controller a 3DS… such a wasted opportunity. I won’t be buying the Wii U until a Killer App gets released, and that Killer App is likely to be Smash Brothers.

    Someone said something on the Wii U once. That Nintendo released the Wii U early due to the Wii prematurely coming to the end of its life span. They knew they were going to lose money for the first time, so they decided to release the Wii U. Giving it a whole year to work out the bugs get a library of games ready to take on Sony and Microsoft. By then both will be dealing with bugs all new systems have and a small library of games. In support of this has anyone seen one Wii U ad other then the net? I haven’t.

    My Wii U hasn’t been turned on since about a fortnight after I got it. What would make me interested in my Wii U again? More games.

    Now I realise that Nintendo is probably making 1st party games as fast as they can, and the 3rd parties aren’t going to come for any reason, but it seems to me Nintendo is sitting on a treasure trove of games they haven’t even begun to consider.

    Why not allow all the handheld games to run on the Wii U? I do not own a 3DS, and I don’t want to buy one, though I really do want to play some of the games on it, I loved the first Luigi’s Mansion, and would quite happily buy the 3DS version emulated on the Wii U.

    I regret buying my Wii U to be honest. Only what, 4 games worth getting with us having to wait 5 months for 2 of them? Not to mention there has been no marketing whatsoever, EB *or at least my local EB) not selling its games anymore, only 2 ports coming out in May, nothing in June or July. Nintendo can’t afford to wait til E3 to announce stuff either. Everyone will be following the PS4 and Durango instead.
