Despite some of the middling reviews, I actually really enjoyed my time with Destiny. I didn’t get to spend as much time as I would like with the game, but still — I was happy with it, and I had a lot of fun playing it. But with all these new games coming out, I’ve sort of put it on the backburner for a while. How about you?
I suspect that a lot of that has to do with my job. I always feel as though I need to be playing the latest games, keeping up to date on the latest stuff. That has resulted in me moving away from Destiny pretty quickly to play games like Alien: Isolation, Shadow of Mordor. Pretty soon I’ll be checking out Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare…
Maybe I’ll get back to Destiny at some point, and focus on levelling my character up. Or maybe I’ll just play the Halo: Master Chief Collection and drown in nostalgia. It’s difficult to say.
So my question to you is this: are you still playing Destiny? Do you foresee yourself playing it in the future?

I stopped after like, two days :/
I stopped a couple of hours into the beta.
:O
Why stop? Did you finish the story and not want to grind?
It really did take me like… 2.5 days to complete the story.
I didn’t like the control scheme and the story was way too boring to compel me to play. I just had no investment in it whatsoever. I traded it in for Shadow of Mordor which is WAY better.
Owch. Well, I enjoyed the game mechanically, but agree that the story was as bland as bland could be. A shopping list of apparent events delivered by Expositionbot1.0 with no characters to react to your actions, grow, develop, provide context or flavour.
Mordor barely has that either (though what little it has is significantly more than Destiny), but it is very excellent to play for some reason.
The nemesis system just has so much charisma and makes for funny stories. But if you like Destiny, that’s awesome!
I foresee myself playing it, if it ever comes to PC.
I voted “No” although I do play it rarely.
Realistically though, I’ve stopped playing. I got sick of doing the same few missions over and over again with little to no reward.
At this point, I only occasionally drop in to do the raid with friends, in the hope that I might get some raid gear (not much luck so far).
Was there one of these for the (not quite as ) overhyped Titanfall as well?
yip

I still duck on with @masha2932 and some other friends. Good fun to either noodle around or jump into strike playlists
I reckon if I started playing, I still would be. But I never did, and continue to not…
I played it non stop until lvl 24 then I had a break for a while but have been back into it in the last 2 weeks after some shadow of mordor. Completing the raid was great but probably will have another break now until the new raid comes out
Like twice a week, Tuesdays for the weeklies and Saturday for the raid, will give the xpac a go, but probably not as much as I have been
Make that 3 times, also Friday night for Xur spawn
I need to hop in on the weeklies. 🙁 Got any room? Lol. I also need much help with exotic bounty and such… @pupp3t_mast0r halp!!
Technically speaking i’m still playing however in a week or two i’ll most likely completely drop it for Novembers releases, WoW, AC, DA:I, SSB. Far Cry and recently COD, sorry Destiny you don’t stand a chance.
I’ve played it pretty much non-stop since launch but have stopped this week. Doing the same missions, strikes & raid over and over each week has drained the fun out of it. At the end of last week all I was doing was leveling up gear for no real reason and that’s when I realised I should leave it until there’s more content. Also doing 6/7 raids now and not having any armour dropped whatsoever and 1, maybe 2 guns, I’m really put off doing the most challenging part of the game because the reward system is massively unbalanced.
I’m playing through Skyrim (again, again, again, again) and having much more fun. I’ll go back to Destiny probably when the expansion is out, play the raid a couple of times and then give it a rest until the expansion after that. I’ll only be tempted to jump on if someone’s organised a lengthy crucible session with a full fireteam
If I get one more Chatterwhite…!
If I don’t get Chatterwhite I feel ripped off now
In saying that I did get gauntlets my first run through with my Titan. And like a digital butt flap thing that looks like utter crap. Since then its been materials and Chatterwhites.
Yes, but potentially no soon with Halo next week.
🙁
Eyyyyy nice pic, bro. Halo man! We can co-op the campaign together. 😀 🙂 :O
You guys should get CoD!!!! 😉
I’m still considering it…have you played it yet?
Edit: Just saw you said consoles are still packed up so I assume not!
Na man not yet, mrs leaves tuesday 4am and I got the day off, so that will prob be my day.
I’ll have to buy it, they do Co-Op Campaign??
Yeah man! I believe you can co-op each of the campaigns with one other person.
Shiiii, I better get a copy then. I think it’d be cool to have a bit of nostalgia like that. Even just for the campaign missions, I don’t see myself playing multiplayer lol
Oooo I will most certainly be playing some multiplayer. Griffball action come at me.
Griffball is awesome.
It really is @spence.
And with local servers now, Griffball lag will hopefully not be as much of an issue as it previously has been (sometimes.)
Yeah sometimes the lag was BRUUUUTAL. Still good though. Smashing people with the Ball when they were trying to sword you was amazingly satisfying.
I tell you what I was all about buying a PS4 at first … but I gotta say I’m slowly swinging over to the Xbox One train …
That’s it. Going on ball killing sprees was my jam.
Well I’m not saying get an XB1, but get an XB1!
I think Halo 1-2 are only 2 player coop, but 3 and 4 are 4 player, they were on 360 anyway. I will be getting MCC, just not sure when.
http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Halospecialist12/Will_Halo:_MCC_have_coop_campaign%3F
Check out the 3rd comment on that page. Could be false as I can’t find the source, but sounds promising! 4 players online co-op for Halo 3 & 4 would be sick.
Yea that’s what I have also read, its on the Co-Optimus site too. Have you never played them 4 player coop? I have done 3, ODST, Reach and 4 all 4 player coop, that was pretty much what got me to play Halo in the first place, on Legendary of course 😉
Sorry I misread your comment.
Never done them co-op, but really looking forward to it. I think I neglected the campaigns a bit, focusing more on the multiplayer side of them. I don’t think I ever completed any of the campaigns on legendary! So I’m pretty excited to do so.
Ah yep I was kinda the opposite, never got into the multiplayer cos of the shields and space jumping, think Reach was prob the most I delved into multi, definately fun campaigns on legendary, reminds me of Destiny allot.
Yeah I’m really gonna miss the double jump. Be interesting to see whether that will be a feature of Halo 5.
Not sure whats going on with the replys, they are greyed out for me…….. CoD11 has double jump! haha, I’m sure there was thrusters and Jetpack in Reach/4.
Oh yeah of course there was duhhhh.
Yeah once you get to a certain amount of replies you can’t reply no more and instead have to reply to the last replyable post and tag. @blackdahlianz
That didn’t sound right.
It’s a game where it’ll be nice to see where it is in 6 months time from now, for example.
Spending a bit of time in it currently. I want to try out CoD:AW but I’ve already pre-purchased GTA:V and I’ve been skeptical of the series since CoD:MW… Money tree please.
Otherwise my time will be spent in PvP or GTA:V.
Still playing. Will do so until I can at least finish the raid once…
You’ll get there, you’ll play with some OP players who’ll run through it in 40 minutes flat. I know I have lol
Heheh. Had a fair bit of fun in there with a few from here. Got as far as the gatekeeper section, but haven’t yet taken on Atheon. It really is brilliant though, huge and crazy.
If you’re on PS4, level 26+ and you can be online tonight (same goes for anyone else interested), I’ll be putting a group together to do it. PSN: najakh
I’ve been playing every night since release. I’ll probably be shelving it for a while when GTAV arrives. I’m hoping the new DLC is good enough to warrant picking it back up.
Cheers. May be around. PSN: trikeabout 🙂
Thanks for putting up with some hilarious noobishness last night (although I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who had a spectacular cock-up…). Slowly learning what’s going on!
Some good moments. The run through the Gorgon’s Maze went really well I thought, the Templar battle was near flawless too, I think there was only one restart. Did you guys go on to finish it after I turned in?
We did. We killed Atheon probably half an hour after you left. A couple of us got sick of him and started pulling out the heavy ammo synths. Probably should have done that a lot sooner 😉
Excellent! 🙂 Should’ve packed a few of those myself…
Good news is I picked up enough Ascendent bits to upgrade my void sniper to max and max my helmet too, maybe get my primary maxed too which will help. Really fancy another crack at Atheon soon!
You can always try looking for a group on http://destinylfg.net or http://reddit.com/r/fireteams
Otherwise, maybe next week 😉
I’m pretty much boycotting it until there’s some actual scope and variety.
Or actual fun. Biggest flop since ET, worse game than Watch Dogs or Duke Nukem Forever.
Yes, still playing it BUT……I’m seriously stalling at mid-way through lvl 28. The game makes is quite hard to feel like, that unless you Raid or grind, you are making any kind of fluid progress. I love the game, but with my work/life schedule and trying to get anywhere in the game it is quite exhausting….
nope trading it into EB Games that’s how little I rate it.
I stopped playing a few weeks after I started. Once I got to 20, the drive to keep running the same horde modes over and over for a bigger number on my pants turned me off the game. My friends didn’t really get into as well, so we all just moved to Borderlands once it came out and have been having a lot of fun shooting moon
Naz… Aussies.Played it obsessively for two weeks around launch. My girlfriend was actually worried I was becoming addicted. Haven’t played it since. I do look forward to jumping back in later next year when there’s a few semi-meaty DLC to add to the experience.
Pretty close to my experience, except I do still log in once a week to play the raid with cool dudes.
Haven’t touched it since pretty close to launch, still haven’t even finished the story yet.
Yes, but becoming increasingly conflicted. Don’t mind replaying missions, and am trying to collect exotics and raid gear to get to 30 so I can do raid on hard. But only having the chance at raid gear once a week (I couldn’t be bothered levelling up several characters to raid more than once a week) and only getting one piece of raid armour after half a dozen raids is getting frustrating. Add to that the announcement that xbone owners have to pay the same for less content in the DLC means that I am becoming disillusioned.
Still havent decided if I’ll buy the DLC because of that, and if I don’t there will be even less people online to play with so will probably drop out.
It’s only the people that make it at the moment. Made a lot of random friends and have a lot of fun in the raid. However, like a lot of others, just stuck around level 28 and starting to question why I still play.
My interest waned pretty early. The sense of disconnect between the mechanics and the narrative (grinding for loot in a somewhat abandoned world without much explanation as to who or what we were trying to really accomplish) left me quite underwhelmed.
I guess my tastes are leaning toward games that either embrace their puritan shooter roots and don’t pretend to be much more, or try to push the envelope.
I keep making comparisons between Destiny and the new Wolfenstein game. Completely different shooters, but Wolfenstein had my attention for a lot longer, and felt so much better realised and polished than destiny.
I said no, but then, I never started.
After over 5 days of playtime (don’t know if that includes time in Tower or not), I’m mostly satisfied with my time with Destiny. It’s on the back burner at the moment, due to a bunch of other game releases, but I’ll start up again when Dark Below kicks off.
Stuck on level 25 for 2-3 weeks now, getting nothing from the Cryptarch, starting to loose interest.
Currently working on getting a 2nd character to 20 in Grind Simulator 2014 so I can harvest twice as many Coins and Motes.
Was quite into the game at first but now I think I’m just forcing myself to try and get my moneys worth out of it sadly 🙁
PLEASE let the xpack have some semblance of story cohesion and something to do other than protect the Dinklebot while he dinkles.
Little Dinkle.
“Don’t do that”
Still playing it, still enjoying it. Haters hating bad on it, seems like it is just cool to hate it now. But I like it, will keep playing it.
Yes… raids at least twice a week between two warlocks, trying to get the other raid gear to drop, and recently attempting hard mode and getting slaughtered. I’m at least trying to do the Daily story missions every day on my two warlocks to gather upgrade materials, though I’m still falling behind in experience. Occasionally doing the shorter 5k XP bounties, in an effort to remedy that, but exotics take so much XP… I won’t say it’s not frustrating to have done the raid over twenty times (even if I went in to half of those knowing I’d not get any loot) and have a pair of gloves and a bunch of weapons to show for it.
That said, I’ll probably be slowing down to just the raids in a couple of weeks – AC:U, FC4, DA:I and Pokemon will take most of my time. Also, thinking about trying to squeeze in a Halo 1-3 campaign run on 360 and watching the MCC cutscenes on youtube (where they will eventually end up) because the MCC release is a great excuse to play them again, and those cutscenes look damn pretty, but it’s not enough to make me buy an Xbox One.
Still playing it up until about a week ago, consoles are packed up for a few weeks whilst in house transition, don’t think I will play it for a while with all the newer games coming out though.
Yes, but only the occasional strike if I’m bored and want to fill in an hour or so. End of game strikes are fun, but once I’ve done them once or twice, I just lack the motivation to do them again and again. I don’t just want new strikes, I want them to play out differently and in new locations.
To be honest the only reason I’m still playing it is because it’s about all I have on PS4, so when I feel like using my PS4 it’s Destiny. But on PC I just got BL:PS, COD (surprisingly not too shit so far) and I’m still only half way through Shadow of Mordor. Destiny will be lucky to get a 1h run every few weeks…
I stopped a few weeks ago. I think I could probably come back to it again now after a break and enjoy it, but I think it would be a shortlived experience once again. They’re already working on the sequel so hopefully they’ve listened to the epic list of legitimate criticisms and give us something amazing next time.
Nope. Got bored with the Grindyness, just isn’t fun.
I wish they had made another Halo TBH.
For myself – I already have all my pieces of equipment to legendary with 2 exotic weps (Ice breaker and Invective) and Exotic Chest Armour, I don’t feel the need for getting anything more as its time wasting enough just leveling up and getting resources to max out those items.
– when you can only equip one at any one time I don’t think farming exotics is even a good thing and it feels incredibly sloppy changing weapons only to remove all your ammo you had and for how minuscule the effects mostly are as the game likes balancing everyone all the time a level 30 character seriously feels like they survive like 1 or 2 more bullets from an Assault Rifle then a level 8 character in PVP which has spent an hour playing… It doesn’t feel quite right. But then on the flip side there are some OP weapons that 1hit KO (or 1 burst KO) any player regardless of their stats that I feel go too far where many, many other exotics don’t shine nearly as much.
Once a week for the raid. Nothing else to do. Its a shame.
Yes, I am plodding along at my own pace (lvl18) and in a few weeks I’ll want to try the Vault of Glass. Hopefully I can find some other plodders who don’t know much about the raid either. I fear I’ll be dragged through it by the weekly players.
Am currently level 26 Titan. Haven’t tried the raid yet as I don’t have a huge roster of friends online (total of 3 of whom only one has Destiny). XBox One Gamertag is LBurroDelDiablo if anyone wants to add me. Am generally online weeknights 8-10ish.
plodding myself brother. level 23 or something now. would like to try a VoG in few weeks too. Look me up if you on PSN. Username: Aeriox1
I’m not against DLC, even in MMO style games where it makes all content before it obsolete by adding a new grind, but between the price of it, the lack of content and Sunset Overdrive kicking off a chain of awesome alternatives I’m finding it pretty easy to break the games hold on me. It’s a real shame because I absolutely love playing what little there is of it.
Played it constantly for 2 weeks when it came out (and mostly did pvp). Loved it but went away for 4 weeks, came back and just had no desire to continue playing it.
Few other games coming out so i doubt i will ever return to it. Shame cause i was hoping it would last as long as an MMO for me, but 2 weeks is still better than most games that come out now
Yes. Usually Fifa takes over my gaming at this time of year but destiny has taken it’s place. It has it’s hooks in. I’m on almost every day for a few hours. Starting to get sick of the grind as I’m trying to get raid armour and it’s a very slow process that takes a lot of time.
I have just started a second character (exo titan) so I am looking forward to building that guy up. Also despite being wholly intimidating the crucible is addictive as all get out. Looking forward to the expansions.
Me and the GF are still cranking away at it, usually with another friend to make up a full fireteam. Getting on to level 24 soon, and aiming to get to Raid level. We’ve been playing more Crucible since we’ve done the Strikes so many times, but it looks like more bounties are popping up for non-Strike story missions so those’ve been cool to play since it’s actually been a while since we played ’em 😛
Levelling doesn’t seem too terrible, at least compared to how it sounded from people talking before they patched engrams. Basically we have a whine about doing the same levels over again when doing Strikes, but we’re still enjoying the game quite a bit. I mean, personally, I’m playing a bit more Sunset Overdrive, but the GF keeps on saying “nope, Destiny” when I suggest she create a Sunset Overdrive character, LoL.
So yeah, we’re still having plenty of fun running around as Guardians. New content will be very much welcome when it arrives though.
Traded that steaming pile of poo in!
I have stopped playing because the Gaming month is upon us and Destiny’s Raid is broke as fuck.
The raid is definitely broken since patch. Glitchy, enemy health replenishing, players dropping out and all 7 oracles spawning simultaneously makes it almost impossible to kill Atheon in hard mode
Yep. Plus, I WANT THE BOOTS! Nine Raids and no boots just a shit load of Ascendant materials.
I still jump on every couple of days. I’m really just hanging around till I get the raid done. Every time somebody from Kotaku AU invites me, im already playing with mates who aren’t ready for the raid and because of their lack of time to grind possinly will never be ready for it.
I’m still playing it most days; I’ll do the weekly and then the dailies, do a public event. All this to get materials for upgrades. I have managed to do the raid a couple of times now since a few weeks ago but I haven’t really gotten any worthwhile drops. I see others getting a sparrow or a gun and I keep getting Chatterwhites or Energy. In fact I have been getting such a hugely disproportionate amount of Ascendant Energy with regards to Shards its madness. I had 30 Energies last night before I could finally level a gun and 1 Shard… I need all of dah shards!
I did stop playing for about a week a little while ago; but it must sense you stop playing and then give you a sweet drop, just to fuel the addiction.
Hmm an interesting mechanic for MMO’s in general to adopt, especially a subscription based MMO. Would anybody really suspect anything if ESO detected that you had been 3 months with no subscription then rewarded you with better than usual loot for 30 days to encourage you to renew sub?
Or even destiny, games player base dropping? if someone goes X amount of days without logging in, dramatically increase the chance of better loot dropping.
Food for thought I guess
The problem is hardcore raiding is built around an arms race of exploitation. It would become standard to have an account that’s not subscribed reserved for raiding to ensure that you could power gear and reach a hard mode full clear faster. That would in turn make the developers crank down the regular loot drop rates to compensate, which effectively turns the bonus into a penalty.
I said it more in jest than anything; but it does seem to happen that way 😛 I get off for a week, jump on and I get a purple drop…
In saying that I do still like playing the game with friends. Its gotten very grating whenever I play by myself. Even though there are other players around it still kind of feels lifeless because nobody can talk to one another.
The raid is a lot of fun when you have a good group. But then can be the most frustrating thing ever when you get a bunch of dullards who don’t use their mics (The only way I have been able to do the raid is to go on DestinyTracker and find randoms to play with).
If their dirty little secret was discovered then yes I agree it would again be a simple tool that people could take advantage of. I was more so referring too if a development team included a system such as better odds for someone who had taken a leave of absence from the game and returned, but denied it being a legitimate thing, or at least never announced it. It would be a sneaky way of ‘fuelling the addiction’ and increases peoples desire to play the game. In a paid sub scenario it could help increase profits (perhaps it’s the salesman in me talking). Even in a non subscription scenario, it could potentially help keep player count and future DLC purchases up, plus in games such as Destiny, you can’t trade that loot anyway.
I played heavily for the first month, totally around 150 hours, then I just stopped. Played once since then, waiting for the DLC.
Yep. Not every day, but every time I game I play at least the Daily mission, usually more.
Finished the shit story then stopped playing. Didn’t like the crucible. Found it boring coming from Battlefield 4. All up got about two weeks worth of playing. After getting to level 20 it got super boring. Very disappointed.
Purchased COD:AW. First COD I have ever purchased. Having fun with it at the moment.
Stopped a couple weeks ago just after I hit 28. Took way too long to get from 27 due to unlucky RNG so the thought of going higher was enough to get me to stop playing.
Yeap, and still enjoying it, even though I’m well in to the grind now.
If anyone fancies the Weekly Heroic Strike at level 22 let me know as I need some more Strange Coins! 🙂
whats ya username and system bro? im on PS4. Username: Aeriox1
ActionFlash and I’m on PS4. Won’t be on until the weekend now though but I’ll add you and keep an eye out. Also I usually don’t have my mic switched on as my son sleeps in the room next door.
dont have my mic on either because i cant be bothered haha. ill add you on saturday morning. will be next time im on. cool bro!!!!
Happy to do Weekly Strikes mic-free if you see me on there and I’m just noodling about. I like the chatter, but for most of the strikes at lower difficulties it’s easy enough to cover each other without voice. PS4.
Is your PSN ID “trikeabout”? If so I’ll add you at the weekend.
Yep, that’s me. 🙂
Nah, I stopped playing after a couple of weeks. Once I hit the level cap and realised that the only way to progress was the mind numbing grind of repeated strike missions I gave up.
Major letdown.
I found it really dull in the three-ish hours I played it on launch, so I stopped and went on to other games. So I put myself down as a “no”, but I’ve finished all my new games and need to wait till another payday for anymore so I might pick it up again. Give it the ol’ second try.
yes, still actively playing it almost daily, make some friends which is awesome. Need to challenge raid at least once before quitting!!
Assassin Creed: Black Flag and Killzone are still sitting cold in the shelve 🙁
I smashed it for a week, got to the endgame and about level 26, dabbled in VoG and promptly gave up. Not going to bag the game, but I’m familiar with the concept of endgame grinding thanks to extensive MMO experience, and it wasn’t something I was interested in/wanted to do again.
It plays exceptionally well as a shooter, looks and sounds the goods – but playing the same things over, and over again, just to get either nothing or actually get something, to, wait for it – grind some more – I’ll pass.
The actual world itself is remarkably small. At least with an average MMO there’s an extensive world to explore and a greater variety of things to do. But then, they’re not FPS titles – so it’s hardly an entirely fair comparison.
My group of friends raid 3 times a week, i’ll be on tonight with my wife and a few friends for another crack at VOG.
finished the story and found the Grind so i gave up on the game after a few days.
