Our Favourite Games From March

Our Favourite Games From March

April Fools’ was just a few days ago, but the games listed here aren’t jokes. On the contrary! They’re actually quite good, in various ways. From indies to triple-As, expansions to re-releases, the 19 below were our favourite games last month.

Bunker Punks

Our Favourite Games From March

An extremely cool, fast-paced, roguelike shooter that’s really fun to play, even in its current incomplete state.

You can buy the game for PC. Note that it’s in Early Access.

Day of the Tentacle Remastered

Our Favourite Games From March

LucasArts’ classic adventure still holds up fairly well over twenty years later. The optional extras and improvements are just icing on the cake.

You can buy the game for PC, PS4 and PS Vita.

Disney Infinity: Marvel Battlegrounds Pack

Our Favourite Games From March

Basically, Marvel Battlegrounds turns Disney Infinity into a four-player brawler. A very good one. With a large roster of Marvel characters.

You can buy the playset here.

Epistory: Typing Chronicles

Our Favourite Games From March

A typing adventure with surprisingly intense battles and lovely visuals.

You can buy the game for PC.

Fallout 4: Automatron

Our Favourite Games From March

FO4’s first expansion is a doozy. Not only does it let you build awesome robots, but it also introduces one of the greatest Fallout characters of all time.

You can buy the game for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Hitman Intro Pack

Our Favourite Games From March

Hitman’s first episode offers three wide-open sandbox levels reminiscent of Blood Money. Since Blood Money’s pretty much as good as Hitman gets, this is a great thing.

You can buy the game for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Kona

Our Favourite Games From March

Even if it’s slightly janky, this adventure game has amazing weather effects and a great atmosphere.

You can buy the game for PC. Note that it’s in Early Access.

LEGO Dimensions: Midway Retro Gamer Pack

Our Favourite Games From March

This pack adds 22 classic emulated arcade games to LEGO Dimensions. That’s pretty great by itself, and there’s even more content to explore besides that.

You can buy the playset here.

Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2

Our Favourite Games From March

It may not be the most balanced or hardcore multiplayer shooter, but it’s heaps of fun. The meaty single-player mode is just a plus.

You can buy the game for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Plants. Vs. Zombies Heroes: The Lawn of a New Battle

Our Favourite Games From March

Does Plants Vs. Zombies work as a turn-based, Hearthstone-esque game? Yes, yes it does.

You can grab the game for iOS here, on the New Zealand iTunes store. It will be available on Android and iOS globally soon.

Pokkén Tournament

Our Favourite Games From March

The goal of Pokkén Tournament was to take Pokémon’s turn-based battles and change them into fast-paced, exciting fighting matches. It succeeded.

You can buy the game for Wii U.

Samorost 3

Our Favourite Games From March

While it’s difficult, this adventure puzzler is also quite clever and beautiful. There’s a reason it’s the third in the series.

You can buy the game for PC.

Salt and Sanctuary

Our Favourite Games From March

Basically, it’s a 2D Dark Souls with lots of jumping. Familiar, but excellent.

You can buy the game for PS4.

Star Wars: Rebellion

Our Favourite Games From March

In this board game, you play as either the Rebels or the Empire, fighting the Galactic Civil War and carrying out missions. It’s complex, but very rewarding once you get into it.

You can buy the game here.

The Culling

Our Favourite Games From March

The Culling is the Hunger Games in video game form. It’s about as nerve-wracking as it sounds.

You can buy the game for PC. Note that it’s in Early Access.

The Division

Our Favourite Games From March

While the game is limited by its setting and story, it looks great and it’s very satisfying to play, with the endgame Dark Zone being a highlight with its risk-reward mechanics. Not to mention there’s a whole bunch of endgame improvements and content coming in the near future.

If you do pick up The Division, make sure to check out our gameplay tips.

You can buy the game for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

The Flame In The Flood

Our Favourite Games From March

This is a survival game where you travel the rivers of a flooded, post-apocalyptic America. As Riley, who reviewed the game, and who actually used to live on a boat, put it, it “perfectly captures what it feels like to live on, with, and against the water.”

You can buy the game for PC and Xbox One.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD

Our Favourite Games From March

Stephen played through the HD remake’s first two hours, and found the game better than he remembered. You might arrive to the same conclusion, but not necessarily because of the updated visuals.

You can buy the game for Wii U.

The Walking Dead: Michonne, Episode 2

Our Favourite Games From March

The second instalment of Telltale’s adventure miniseries further explores Michonne’s history, in an emotional way that’s particularly effective if you happen to be a parent.

You can buy the game for Android, iOS, PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
