Eversince the original Playstation, there’s come a point in each console’s lifecycle where Sony re-releases a bunch of great games as what was originally called the Playstation Platinum range: basically the big-hitters of the last few years, delivered at a budget price.
It’s always been a great idea and is how I discovered plenty of great titles I’d have otherwise missed. The boxes though… yeah, the boxes always looked worse than the original releases, to me at least, and it also seemed they got worse over the generations. Let’s follow some Tekken installments from PS1 to PS3 in the Platinum range…
Eesh! The price might have been right, but the design… I’d buy these things but kind of semi-resent those covers.
Well, those days are gone. The ‘Only On Playstation’ range has launched in the UK today and just look at these things: gorgeous would be an understatement.
Editor’s Note: These cases appear to be UK-exclusives, so we can only drool over them for now. They’re real pretty, though!
Have a look at some of the designs, and you can see the whole range here.
The most beautiful of all is Bloodborne, though I would say that. I’ve already got two copies of the game (don’t ask) and now it looks like I’m going to hand over $30 for essentially a pretty sleeve. Oh well, no-one ever said this hobby was cheap.
The full line-up of games follows.
Spider-Man
God of War
The Last of Us Remastered
Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition
Shadow of the Colossus
Ratchet & Clank
Bloodborne
The Last Guardian
