The Dorkly Weekly: Wait, Dazzler Is One Of The X-Men?

Konami’s 1992 arcade game X-Men featured five of the most popular mutants to ever wear the X: Cyclops, Colossus, Wolverine, Storm and Nightcrawler. Oh yeah, and that roller-skating disco singer.

Now I’ve got nothing but love for Alison Blaire, AKA The Dazzler, with her ability to convert sound into light, a power I suspect was the original inspiration for The Clapper. I just don’t see her being particularly potent against the Master of Magnetism.

To be fair, the last time I really followed an X-Men arc featuring Dazzler she wasn’t much more than a girlfriend for Longshot, the extra dimensional pretty boy with luck powers. I do believe I ran into her in a recent issue of X-Factor in which Jamie “Multiple Man” Madrox and his team visited the X-Men’s home of Utopia, where Longshot and Dazzler once again slept together. Twice.

So you can probably understand why I’m right there with Dorkly on this one.
