You know how ash from the Icelandic volcano has disrupted plane travel to and from Europe? Well, we’ve heard there were video games on some of those cancelled flights.
Mindscape, the Australian distributor for Konami, has told us that several of its upcoming releases have been delayed as a result of a new cloud of ash from the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in south-east Iceland.
“Due to the second eruption of the Iceland volcano and further disruption to flights, our shipment of Wii stock will be delayed,” a Mindscape spokesperson told Kotaku.
“One of the world’s leading freight forwarders, Expeditors, has advised this morning that, due to the substantial freight shipments that are building up around the world, they are uncertain how quickly the backlog will be cleared.”
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (Wii) will definitely miss its scheduled April 22 release date, although the PS2 and PSP versions are on track to make it into most stores this Friday. Puzzle Chronicles (PSP, DS) and Karaoke Revolution (PS3, Wii) have also been delayed until flights resume, while future releases Scene It? Twilight (Wii, DS), GTi Club Supermini Festa (Wii) and Sports Island (DS) may also be delayed, should the disruption continue.
We’ve contacted every games distributor in the country to ascertain whether any other game releases have or might be affected. We’ll let you know if we have any updates.

In other news: Iceland has gone down in my books. I mean, they had Vikings, but Vikings never inconvenienced European air travel.
