The only way to get on next week’s Halo: Reach multiplayer beta is to own a copy of Halo 3: ODST. So Microsft is cunningly reducing the price.
From today, you can get Halo 3: ODST for $69.95, a whole thirty bucks off the previous RRP. And, given that many retailers were already selling ODST for considerably less than it’s $99.95 RRP, you can probably find it for even less now.
The Halo: Reach multiplayer beta begins at 3am AEST, May 4. Until then, I’d recommend grabbing ODST and enjoying the excellent Firefight mode with three of your mates.

Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 5:14 PMMeh, I’m still gonna wait. It’s a fun game, sure, but even for $70 I don’t feel the need to shell out for it.

Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 6:50 PMODST screamed out that Bungie are ready to do something different. Reach will be amazing, and I’ll be there for Beta, but I’m keen to see what they do next.

Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 7:24 PMI got it for $50 not long after launch.

Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 8:18 PMWhile it seems like a very good marketing move I think the fact remains that those who are interested in the Beta, such as I, are generally into the halo universe enough to have purchased ODST at or around launch.
Couple that with the fact that every new console for a while now seems to be bundled with a copy of ODST.
Good idea, but i dont think sales will spike or anything.

Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 11:28 PMWell, technically only ONE of your mates, in person or physically.
The other two either by system link or online! Sucks i know… but Bungie wouldn’t toy around with the code.
CAUSE THEY WERE LAZY… (i’m just not caring for Bungie and going on a Bungie spree of hating on them after the Activision article).
And to think that I THOUGHT they cared for their fans.

Friday, April 30, 2010 at 2:59 AMI’ve gotta say I’m a little unsure of how I feel about the deal, but I’m excited to have even a little tid-bit of an idea of what they may do next.
