Let's Marvel At How Pretty Pokémon X/Pokémon Y Looks

There are new Pokémon games! And if this batch of screens is anything to go by, the games are going to be pixelated purdy.

"We brought Pokémon into an entirely new dimension and we're incredibly excited to bring Pokémon X and Pokémon Y to fans," said game designer Junichi Masuda, in an official release. "The stunning visuals, a completely redesigned environment, game scenario, music, and communication features will bring smiles to the faces of video game players around the world."

Here are brand spanking new images of the game's male and female Pocket Monster trainers. I love the pixelated look — something that's easier to see in these screenshots. There's also a new launch trailer! You can watch it below.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will be out this October on the 3DS.

Oh, looks like its just screen grabs from the video. I was hoping for new screenshots! Still, I'm so hyped for this! More then I have ever been for a Pokemon game!

I remember when pokemon came out

And playing all the original games

The original starters are still my favourites

    Nothing has come close since

Yeah, now they have a blue frog with a lot of neck hair, a dog with a lot of ear hair and a,... hell I don't even know what to call that :/

Give me Bulbasaur or give me death

Wrong, clearly Charmander was the best choice :P

            Squirtle!

Pikachu!..oh right, Yellow didn't give you a choice. You get the rest later anyway :)

Yellow was the first one I ever played, I was over the moon when my parents bought that back from a holiday they had just been on. The first gym battle shit me to tears for a while though, until I learned what evolving was and then just levelled a Caterpie up to Butterfree. Worked a charm.

As a Charmander fan I feel you should be encouraging the use of Bulbasaur.

Or maybe he is a Squirtle fan encouraging the use of Charmander?

I would love to see a new Pokemon game where variations of older Pokemon ushered in a new generation. For example a Bulbasaur with fire based flower instead of it’s current flower, thus making it a grass/fire type Pokemon or a Raticate with some poisonous traits. The story could explain these mutations with a sinister scheme around an organisation experimenting with genetics, or the more family friendly concept that these Pokemon species adapted around their environment, similar to the wildlife of the Galapagos Island.

That... actually sounds cool. It could easily be tied to the story, it'd make sense, and it'd be interesting to see the Pokémon with changes like that.

I'm hoping they've axed 4-directional movement in favour of full 360 freedom, and it'd be pretty nice to see some character customisation beyond just boy/girl. I also hope that along with the new lick of paint comes some redesign to the structure of the game, I'm fine with battles and all but moving from town to town defeating 8 gyms is a little repetitive.
Otherwise I'm pretty excited for this.

Watch the trailer. They clearly have not axed 4-way movement. And honestly, I think it'd be a hell of a lot of work for not much gain, so I'm okay with that.

I dunno, the trailer does display strict movement lines but that could just be coding to align a slight angle on the circle pad with a specific direction.
I just hate when games don't use the full 360 capabilities of the circle pad. The directions are there, but you can't access them. It frustrates me.

Just because there's an input for it doesn't mean it's "there", or that you have an obligation to use it.

I'm aware of that. Please read what I said. It frustrates me when the circle pad is locked to certain directions when it is capable of 360 degrees of movement. It doesn't feel right to me at all. I'm merely stating a personal preference.

Might have to pick up a 3DS for this...

I also hope this means that the final evolution wont be Fire/Fighting, again.

        Water/electric, fire/psychic, grass/fighting maybe?

Water/poison, pure fire, grass/fighting are my bets

    Is this article a troll?
    Sorry if I missed it..
    But..
    It looks like crap..

October? Nooooooooooo! Damn i wanna play this.

When my friend told me about this i thought oh ok. Because she said it looked bad. I then watched the trailer and found myself watching it five more times and almost in tears from the excitement. I personally think the starters are adorable and the new pokemon would be interesting. cant wait.

Magikarp is still raped in the trailer, when will they learn that everybody loves Magikarp and it should be a power to be reckoned with
