Another day, another group of sales. Like many of you, we’ve been through these sales so many times we already have a lot of the games that appeal to us. Whether we’ve found time to play them all is a different story. But this is the place to tell your fellow Kotakuers which ones can’t be missed.
As a side note, it’s quite amazing that DayZ has been at the top of the best seller list throughout this entire round of sales, and at $29.99 USD, it hasn’t even been on sale. Just another reminder of how much of a phenomenon it is. Anyway, onto our picks!
If you dug Amnesia: The Dark Descent (currently going for $3.99 USD), it’s sequel is on sale today after being released not too long ago. Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs is slightly lighter on the horror than its predecessor, slightly heavier on the story and polish, and is going for $9.99 USD.
Trine 2 is a fun little co-op adventure in fantasy and physics. It has a fairytale atmosphere and ease of combat which make it a good one to play with those in your life who may only have one foot in the gaming world. It’s going for $1.99 USD.
Castle Crashers needs no introduction. It’s one of the best-selling games of all time. But if you’re one of the few who haven’t bought it yet, you can get its cartoonish, humorous co-op brawling action on your PC for the odd price of $3.74 USD.
That’s about it for us and the daily deals. As for the flash sales, Brutal Legend is a steal for $1.99 USD, and some would argue it’s worth it just to experience one of the funniest beginnings to a game ever. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is also a massively underrated triple-A game, with voice work from Patrick Stewart and a fantastic combat system. It’s a steal at $10.19 USD.
Let’s open it up to you now – anyone think I’m a criminal for leaving out Borderlands 2? What would you tell your fellow Kotakuers to buy?

I bought Borderlands 2 this morning, it was 75% off, I came back a couple hours later and its now back up to 50% off. O_o
Yeah I saw it at $19.99 on my way to work, went to buy it on lunch and it was back up to $39.99. At $39.99 I think I’ll pass on it for now.
Edit: Picked it up from getgamesgo.com for $14.99.
So Borderlands 2 GOTY isn’t worth the $19.99?
I’m thinking of buying it but:
1. I don’t know if many people play it anymore
2. Is the game even fun if you play with strangers?
Just need advice!
EDIT: Borderlands 2 GOTY just changed to 50% off instead of 75% off. WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I’m gonna go cry now.
Well ultimately it’s still worth it, I’ve put 666 hours into it so far, probably half of it single player so even if you don’t have anyone around it’s still awesome. The game is easily one of the funniest things made, well worth playing even solo
I’m given to understand that a lot of people still play it but then I don’t play with randoms so I can’t be certain how easy it’ll be though I’d be surprised if you had trouble
Well, it’s not really worth it for $19.99 when you can get it for US$15 right now from :
http://www.getgamesgo.com/product/borderlands-2-mac-goty
But you don’t any cards man. ITS ALL ABOUT THE CARDS MAN@@@!!!!@!#@#@#@#
if you have a mac
What do you mean? It says on that page that it’s a Steamworks game so it works for Windows as well as Mac.
Was it? I must have missed that. You’d think they’d show pc specs too
the game was twice as fun with one other and 3 times as much fun with 2 others so on and so forth so if you can play with one or more ppl Def worth it really does improve the game so much
Have you got a PS3? Borderlands 2 is free on PS+ in January. I think it’s just the standard (i.e. non GOTY) edition, though – not sure how much the DLC costs.
Wasn’t that only for North America or something?
They got it in December. We get it in January, along with Devil May Cry.
I play it still.
Arma 3 is 40% off, I’m not sure why any other game is getting a look in
Beware of Castlevania, Lords of Shadow. 7 hours in, you will run into a QTE that is impossible to recreate on a keyboard. You will try that QTE for 52 minutes, and then give up on the game entirely. Get a controller, or suffer like I did.
Lol, i remember that part. Gave up on the game entirely.
Crusader Kings 2 is worth picking up for those who haven’t tried it.
Its a really great medieval kingdom simulator and also has an amazing Game of Thrones mod.
