When Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Computer Entertainment's Worldwide Studies, gently trolled Nintendo by joining the Wii U's Miiverse and chucking up an image saying 'I love PS', we reported it. What we didn't know is that Yoshida was actually banned temporarily for the post... and it was actually his second ban!
The first bannable offence? Putting his twitter account in his profile.
"The first time was because I had my Twitter account in my profile and that's against the rules," he said, as reported by Engadget. "The second time is because I wrote, 'I love PS.' You're not supposed to promote a commercial product in MiiVerse, so they correctly interpreted 'PS' as 'PlayStation.'"
Oh Shuhei, you cad.
Thankfully, he confirmed on Twitter that both bans were temporary, and he was back up and running very quickly after both bans.
There's something about Shuhei Yoshida. Maybe it's because he's a Dark Souls fan, maybe it's because he's so accessible on Twitter, but I can't remember anyone at Sony having quite the same resonance with gamers. He's fast becoming a bit of a cult figure and, for some reason, the fact that he got busted from trolling Nintendo on its own online service just amplifies the legend.
Now we just need to get Reggie to join PlayStation+.
