On March 6, Square Enix is releasing Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition for Xbox One and PS4. It’s filled with new features, including a new dungeon, a first-person mode and the ability to control the game’s royal boat.
Via the game’s official site, here is what the Royal Edition includes:
An all-new dungeon – Insomnia City Ruins: Expanded Map
New features such as first person mode, new gear, and new bosses.
Armiger Unleashed — after you collect all 13 royal arms, a more action-oriented mode of the Armiger is unlocked
Royal Vessel — the boat from FFXV is now a controllable vehicle. The same body of water (between Cape Caem and Altissia) can now be freely explored.
All season pass content — Episode Gladiolus, Episode Prompto, Multiplayer Expansion: Comrades, and Episode Ignis.
Over a dozen pieces of DLC, including weapons, Regalia car skins, and item sets.
Of course, the Royal Edition also comes with Final Fantasy XV. If you already own the game, you can also buy these extras as DLC for $US19.99 ($25).
The Royal Edition bonus content is also coming to the Windows Edition, which will be out the same day. The PC version also gets native 4K (max 8K resolution), HDR10, Dolby Atmos and mod support.

Thank you for this square.
Oh hell yeah, I was just thinking about a second playthrough today but convinced myself to wait for the PC complete edition. Nice of them to announce this in such a timely fashion for me.
Meh. It’s like an instant remake. And I’m over it. The $20 for the DLC is kinda nice but it’s still 20 bucks for an experience I’ve had, only slightly different. I’ve already laid down cash for DLC which means I’d be throwing money at it twice.
I could buy this and keep my FF collection going OR I could go get Horizon on PS4 and play something new, and most likely much better.
Definitely get Horizon anyway. So bloody worth it. It’s a surprise you still haven’t played it! But your right about how ridiculous it is that people who are already paying for the season pass are basically paying twice for what.. An extra dungeon, a boat, etc. It’s just small stuff but it’s not enough to pay 25 bucks. I’ve just paid 20 for the horizon dlc and it’s so worth it! It’s like having another game with a new story line.
Given that you’ve already played FFXV, and that Horizon is currently on sale for about the same price as this DLC, I’d say get Horizon. I’d take a whole new (great) game over a bit of DLC every time.
Especially when that game is orders of magnitude better than FFXV.
DLC content for the main game that’s not included in the season pass? Wow, where do I hand over my credit card details? Or would Square Enix just like to set up a month direct debit?
Has to be the biggest “fuck you” I’ve ever got from a publisher after buying the season pass. Not only would you expect to get all the DLC for a game when you buy a season pass, but the Royal Edition is a fraction of the price of what the season pass was and includes the season pass content.
So fuck you too, Square Enix. Take your DLC, shove it right up your fucking arses, and then just imagine I’m holding out a middle finger, and then sit your greedy holes right on that middle finger, and then swivel. Swivel, god dammit. Swivel like you just gave out a “fuck you” to everyone who supported the game by buying the season pass. Swivel like you’ll never get another cent out of me. Swivel like you’re so much worse than any other publisher.
And then when you’re done swiveling, go sing for your fucking money because you’re sure as shit not getting any more of mine for your games.
This to the power of rad.
Diddums.
Thanks braaains and Blaithin! You’ve helped seal the deal! This evening I’ll purchasing Horizon, putting my Switch down for a bit, and most will likely only hap listen to my wife for a couple of weeks while I indulge in whatever it is that is amazing about Horizon (I’ve purposely avoided reading about it entirely so that it feels super fresh when I start). I honestly don’t know what the premise of the game is but I’m sure it will rock my world.
Do what I do – buy it via the PS Store website while you’re at work and start it downloading. Depending on the speed of your internet connection, it might be ready to play by the time you get home! 😀
They’re gonna be milking this FF for the next decade or so, much like they did with FF13.
Really sucks if you didn’t much like the characters.
Or the gameplay, or the setting, or the music, or the plot.
Quite honestly FF15 must the absolute worst entry in the series.
It is horrendous to play. Ok maybe not horrendous but it certainly is lacking polish. (Cluncky battle, car on rails, invisible walls in ‘open world’, poor story, bad camera,….)
I get the feeling playing it that the team who borked FF14 launch and subsequently got axed shifted over to finish FF15 and it shows.
Maybe they should get the new FF14 team to fix FF15 like they did FF14.
I can’t imagine the reason behind dlc for this game….
(Yes I know, this is only my opinin and I am sure plenty of others really do enjoy the game)
If this was announced at the end of this year (so 2 years after release) then I’m pretty sure most people would be fine. But to announce this less than a month after ‘Episode Ignis’ feels like a kick in the balls to those of us that bought the Season’s Pass.
This shit is almost as bad as Assassin’s Creed Origin’s Season Pass.
