Destiny 2’s new expansion, Forsaken, turns the game into something that people can play as much as they want without running out of things to do. If anything, its tantalising new pursuits, designed to satisfy the appetites of the series’ most voracious players, may be too life-consuming.

It turns out one of Destiny 2: Forsaken’s most annoying new weapons is bugged after all. In Bungie’s weekly update post for the game yesterday, the studio confirmed that the Edge Transit, a legendary grenade launcher introduced in the latest expansion, has indeed been dropping “more frequently than intended”.

Destiny 2’s infusion system allowed players to easily power up their favourite gear to use throughout their adventure. Forsaken has tweaked how upgrading is handled; the change shakes up player’s arsenals and encourages experimentation, at the cost of making customisation and identity-building more expensive (and grindy) than before.

There's plenty of games worthy of a community review this week, so we'll have a few extras as the days roll on. But I wanted to start with a game that's been a TAYbie favourite, but also a bit of a letdown in the past.

I, like many other hardcore Destiny players, have been lapsed for the past year but returned to the game yesterday for the launch of Forsaken. It’s a weird, wild and comforting feeling, like slipping into a familiar pair of shoes. Or, more accurately, like getting on a familiar treadmill.

Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion introduces a lot of new stuff to the game, but the most significant addition is a new hybrid competitive/cooperative mode called Gambit. It’s a hell of a lot of fun, once you know what you’re doing.
