Skate fans were hoping for a Skate 4 announcement at E3 this week, and when it didn't come, folks were bummed. Anyone watching Twitch's official coverage of the show earlier tonight, yesterday, was treated to a few moments of delicious hope... before having it snatched cruelly away once again.

It's been years since we got a good skateboarding game, and that fact -- coupled with some runaway hope -- led fans to expect a Skate 4 announcement at E3 this week. And for a brief few seconds, they thought they'd actually got one.
Skate 3 is coming to the Xbox One's backwards compatibility program, in part thanks to renewed interest in the Skate series as the result of an inexplicably loud movement for Skate 4.
The Tony Hawk reboot last year confirmed what a lot of people felt: the skateboarding video game genre wasn't quite what it used to be. It's why, for instance, EA hasn't really been particularly fussed about making Skate 4.
But skateboarders would really like EA to make Skate 4 anyway, and they're trying to start a social media movement to make it happen.
